Exporting from USA to Germany, any ideas?

I have a friend that just recently moved to Germany for the next couple years. Is there any ideas you can think of that could make me some money by exporting, and or importing to and from Germany. Clothes, electronics, anything really that either Germans want form America or we want from them.

Which ever is most profitable. Assuming eBay wouldnt be too prfitable because Germans can go on ebay and buy the same stuff. Looking for some niche market to utilize my buddy over in Germany. Any ideas?

Why do people create a quick fake account to post up about these ideas/ventures?

Just wanting anonymity I guess?

Why not ask your friend who is living there, what is something you can get there that you cannot get in the states that you think people would love to have.

We get (what seem to be) regulars on the forum posting an idea/help thread in here under a new account, and I was curious.

So is there any ideas or products you and him have come up with yet that you are tossing around?

How much capital (roughly) do you guys have to work with to start something up?...important to know to understand what scale of items we are talking about.

Something small you can buy in large quantities I am assuming?

Have you researched any import/export barriers regarding laws or taxes on this?

Won't importing/exporting just be really expensive? If you make much money you've got customs taxes as well. Whatever you think of there's probably someone doing it already quite efficiently.

Just FYI-Importing & exporting is NOT easy my friend. You better have a pocket full of $$ and have all your contacts lined up before you even think about it. With the internet the way it is today anyone can just about get anything they want, legal or otherwise.
I know because I've been working as an intermediary in the physical commodity trade biz for over 4 years. Lots to learn and it takes up a ton of time. It's a good thought and if you can pull it off then more power to you. I know a few that have on a small basis but it's hard ass work. No easy $$ here, sorry.

I had thought about exporting tennis balls from USA to Europe as they are only half the price in US retail stores. I havent thought this to the end though, probably something will not work here.

Isn't this wrong thinking though? I dont know much about import/export, but it seems that they would be half price for a reason (free markets and all), due to taxes, shipping etc? I would think OP would be better off going after something US specific that is not found in the rest of the world, ie a local food or something, maybe some custom clothing/shoes?

you re right, that is why i have not pursued the idea any further.
however, it still seems really weird to me to have such a big difference.
