Yeah, all of those reasons plus the fact it just ran up from 50 -> 350 in less than 3 months. IMO it's actually good for long-term holds to let the steam out a bit. I imagine there's a bunch of people who just want to take profits off of the table. Even just reading everyday how people who are somehow expecting 10%+ weekly gains - yeah not sustainable and it's good to have a little pain as a wake-up call.

Nothing has changed in the road map; this movement is just a 'nice' welcoming for anyone new here to the crypto asset space. Won't try to guess where it bottoms out for now as it doesn't really matter. If you're looking to hold long term this truly is noise and dropping 30%+ from peak isn't anything to be worried about. FWIW the one guess I will go on the record for is I'd be surprised if it's <350 once Metropolis rolls out later in the fall.

I have a feeling it will go on another run this week, just a hunch. Profit takers and weak holders aren't in the equation as much now I don't think. I wouldn't be surprised to see 400+ by week's end. Probably wishful thinking, but it's good to be optimistic. ;D

Two of the largest ico's were just held on ethereum. They are clearly going to liquidate or already are. I cashed out, or tried as soon as SNT finished. At least this is what made me want to ditch my eth.

I tried because when I sent my eth to polo it took over 12 hours to get it....

Not sure what you are saying, but I have sent some transactions with 4gwei gas price and they have confirmed within minutes during this backlog. But yeah, I hope f2pool sets their dynamic limit a bit higher or that more miners leave them.

That and there is not as much buy pressure now that those ico's are over.

The thing with polo, my transaction showed as complete on ethoscan, I just could not access it on polo. I wrote them and they sent me a generic email about how their eth wallet is having problems. This was after the ICO congestion. It was a polo issue. But its all good now.

So I guess they already had some ETH they are selling? Maybe. I have a feeling that something else has happened, like some insider learning that some new member to EEA is getting cold feet, but really I don't know.

Wait till all these icos who don't have access to otc trading need to sell their eth to "hedge"

not sure this hasn't started already.

I find that extremely doubtful.

1. There are quite a handful of smaller ico raises that don't have access to otc
2. You need proper corporate governance and structure to begin selling on exchanges as a company
3. We are probably talking about hundreds of million in usd terms of eth that needs to be sold
4. Eth rise from 30-400$ has taken a few weeks and it takes weeks to set up all the proper banking and corporate accounts.

If anything, we haven't seen any exchange ico selling yet. Probably a lot of otc trading has already occcured, once even the otc market is exhausted... look out.

Are you of the mind that BTC will depress at a (similar rate, lesser rate, or no rate) as correlation to the ETH/ICO pair sell off?

It would be my guess there would be little correlation as the crazy run-up with ETH was not mirrored by BTC at many points over the last six months. BTC might even get a short-term bump if it can thread the needle between Segwit2x debacles and ETH/ICO people viewing BTC as a safe haven to those averse to the delays of changing to and fro fiat but are over-exposed to ETH and its children.

Also, while ETH was starting to get some mainstream exposure, it is still not nearly the press BTC has had, thus the idea that all cryptos fall if BTC is publically tarnished does not apply to the same extent in the reverse direction of ETH(+alts)->BTC.

Thoughts on these hunches?
