Does anybody in this forum have any idea how much it costs to develop an online shopping site as large as amazon, Tesco etc.

Plus, roughly how long would this take before launch?

I'm british so estimates in £ would be nice but any help would be great. This has nothing to do with a business idea of mine, i just need to know a rough estimate of the capital required.

Sorry, if i didn't make myself clear, there are no numbers, i just need a rough estimate of the total cost to launch a site similar to amazon or any large online retailer. This is not actually my homework, its just a general question that would be helpful for the completion of my project.

If i had to estimate (and i'm really guessing) i would say it would be around £1m and take around 6 months.

The technical should be below 1m and within a year. But you're not there yet, you'll need to develop a business around the website.

So are you just thinking about the website but all the other stuff too?
