Been trying to decide between the keepkey or the trezor. Has anyone used either of these hardware wallets?

keepkey started with a fork of the trezor code, made their own hardware with a bigger screen, and increased the price. could be good but not sure its worth it.

trezor is a great product. good customer support. i use it.

ledger nano s is also good i hear. (thinking about getting one to play with).

how many confirmations is safe? (i'm buying 40btc)
I would feel safe with 2 confirmations. If you disagree, can you find one example of 1 confirmation being reversed in the last 2 years?

relatively significant development on COIN today.

search on reddit.

I implore those of you who have time to write into the SEC to address the concerns and questions they raised in their decision today.

If I'm buying from bitstamp, when signing up for a new bitstamp account, is it wise to use my real name?

you were right, he kept trying to negotiate a way for me to send first. and when i wouldn't budge, he stopped responding.

he was even gonna have somebody meet me face to face, and wanted me to send half. so theoretically, somebody that met me was just gonna take off running or something after i sent btc.

I was recommended to post my issue I'm having here in this thread.

Anyone that has experience using bitcoin, I would greatly appreciate any help.

I withdrew some bitcoin about a week ago from Merge, I've done this successfully numerous times, I understand how the process works and never had a problem.

My blockchain stopped generating new receive address, so I had to go into my settings and manually request a new address. Did that, and used to to request my withdraw.

Today, it's finally showing up as "sent" in my merge tab, so I go and check my blockchain and the money isn't there. I talked to merge support and they said there's nothing they can do, the money has been sent and I need to discuss the situation with blockchain.

The address they sent me to confirm the transaction, does indeed look like the money was sent, yet when I search for the confirmation address in my individual transactions history, nothing shows up. The address I gave them to send it to is still sitting in my address history as unused. So I have no idea where my money is, no idea how to even contact blockchain. This situation has me scared to even request a BTC with Ignition right now.

Someone recently had this same issue with Merge, it looks like they have an employee, or multiple employees stealing peoples cash outs.

Do they not log what address you send to?

Many places are requiring a multi-step verification process (good IMO). Has merge not done this?

While reusing old addresses kinda sucks, it is way better than this mess.

They literally just sent me an email asking to to provide them with the BTC address that I used to request the withdraw, they have no idea apparently.

You need to input the wallet address you gave them onto the main page on blockchain. It will show any transactions for that address. If there are none.. send them that link showing nothing was sent. They cant exactly dispute that. Its pretty clear cut stuff. One of the best things about the blockchain. All documented, nobody can **** around.

I just screen shot the address that I gave them and it showing no transactions. We will see what they say.

I actually sent them 2 screen shots, one showing the address I gave them, and another showing the address they sent it to, both showing up as no transactions in my blockchain history. Now I wait and see what they have to say.

new to digital currencies, apologies if this is the wrong thread.

what is the best way to deposit BTC on gambling sites? i created my blockchain wallet and then made an account with Circle a few days ago. but their limits are $300/week which is sort of useless, and the $300 transfer i requested from my bank isn't supposed to even go through until the 20th. i also made an account with Coinbase but they haven't even verified my bank account yet. i know the limits increase a bit after building history but still kind of annoying for now.

do those limits apply to P2P transfers as well? i.e. if i know someone who i trust and vice versa, would i be able to receive $5k worth of BTC from them at once, and just send them PayPal or something?

This is part of the problem with accepting BTC. Everyone is a moron and the ecosystem suffers for it. We can't even get criminals to use it even half-assed.

No limits on BTC P2P transfers. Just deposits and withdrawals from actual banks.

Rick,

You keep saying your 'blockchain'. Do you use a wallet on blockchain.info?

What does it show in https://blockchain.info/address/(put address you gave Merge here)

are there any transactions?

Feel free to PM me if you want.

I use a wallet at blockchain.com

I've had many successful bitcoin withdraws from merge/bovada since I started using it a few months ago. They just responded to my email, and are apparently not going to do anything about scamming me. What is my recourse from here? This is truly unbelievable.

There really needs to be a confirmation E-mail or something in the history page that documents what wallet your withdrawing to. Like instead of just saying "$1200 withdraw request" it should be "$1200 to wallet "XYZ"" requested. I haven't had an issue with bovada, but I could see it arising because they don't document it mutually either.

so, to clarify the situation, you entered bitcoin address A into their withdrawal form, saw your address in the confirmation box that likely popped up, and then they switched addresses on you on the back end and sent to address B instead?
