it could be the unknown hedge fund with 3 bil that now has access to a trading platform, although i am not sure if this is the actual hedge fund that is doing this or people buying in because of the news that it might be a hedge fund that might be doing this. hopefully it's something better like insider trading before a really big news break out, though.

Yes but it has seemed all these bull traps (not necessarily saying this is a trap) have included some sort of big news which there hasn't been any, so something seems a bit different.

Money 2020 is a conference about the future of money/payments/etc...

It might be indirectly changetip - in so that people actually think changetip will have a positive reaction rather than a spam annoyance, so they buy anticipating all these newly tipped people who got fractions of a cent and now somehow love Bitcoin.

Hashrate increase has seemed to slow down too. IMO, this is a good sign. It means even the best miners aren't profitable to put up right now which means no bitcoin spent and dumped on market to make more miners.

Now if BTC continues it's rise, hashrate will probably pick up and more resistance on the price until hashrate stops increasing again.

I wouldn't trust okcoin as far as I could throw em. But that is the type of news that usually causes these spikes. "China's loading up!"

Thought the hashrate thing was related to the huge fire.

The fire actually happened 14october. Some bad journalism and lack of good sources fooled people to think that it happened in november.

Sure hashrate is not exploding as fast as before.

But it's easy to forget but the 7day average growth rate of "only" 0.2%/day is still insane in any other context.

Checked up on the changetip.. the idea seems very cool. Buy a buddy a "beer" for his birthday or whatever. In turn, many bars and restaurants would start to accept it.. or anywhere for that matter because maybe kids get money for toys or whatever. However the changetip site seems very amateur and not well put together. I feel like someone who is better at it needs to execute it right and get it into motion.

I've got nothing against changetip, it's an easy way to send people funds. PayPal had something similar for people without accounts early on.

Though if the goal is merchant adoption in the end, lol. Same people who think merchant adoption leads to good things for Bitcoin are the same ones who think giving away unwanted asspennies to strangers will also lead to adoption.

I've been giving poker players $1 worth of bitcoin like 10-20 times now. Many have been curious but sceptical and not willing to try it out, but when I offered it for free they accepted, downloaded electrum, gave me an adress and got their bits. Most seem to be surprised how smooth and non-invasive the whole process was and seem to become much more positive towards bitcoin afterwards.

As for tipping on reddit I kind of agree. Only like 1/10 of my tips are accepted, but some thank me even though they didn't accept it. But yes, when I spam "/u/changetip 1 internets" I don't really expect them to accept it, I just do it for fun. But when I ask a question on ask /r/engineeringstudents and get a nice explanation and tip $1 I do believe the people who get them are genuinely happy that I show my appreciation even if they don't accept the tip.

Love the drawing lines. Great "technical" "analysis". The best part is people don't understand if something happens three times, it's probably going to happen four times. That's just simple patterns, and patterns are found everywhere in nature. It's a natural law.
