Hi so Ive had a full time job out of college now for about 2 years and have been contributing to a 401k for the majority of that time period. Ive gotten several quarterly statements showing some growth but today one got sent to my parents house (sorta weird but not really) saying I had $0 and apparently showing a withdrawl on March 31. I have no idea how to go about withdrawing and couldnt even tell you what funds I'm in. It was on autopilot as far as I was concerned.

So is there any chance I wasnt somehow robbed? Any other reason it would show a withdrawl i did not make? Is it possible my employers switched plans or something?

I'm obv. going to talk to HR in the am but am on tilt right now thinking about this.

Find out if anyone else at work was affected.

And, stay cool. These mix ups happen. You won't gain anything by yelling at people over it. If your money was transfered out there would be a record of where it went, and if this was a systematic fraud against numerous people, a major media scandal would ensue.

One time I got someone else's life insurance statement. Another time, a business had a computer containing encrypted copies of my social security and bank account numbers stolen.

Life goes on, just watch your credit report for a while.

First step: Contact HR. They will know if this is an isolated situation, or if other people were involved.

2nd step: Contact the company that handles your 401k plan.

Maybe your benefits changed to a different 401(k) plan, and this was the transfer. Obv contacting your benefits dept is first step.

Ty everyone. Turns out we did switch plans and everyone receives similar statements. If this has taught me anything, it's that I'm going to check on my funds every now and then. I'm also not contributing the maximum at the moment. I hope to change that very soon.
