Hi, i am a regular poker player.

I've successfully built my bankroll from a 1/2 game, i started with just a normal buy in of $200, within 5 months i built my bankroll to $6000++ .

Since then, i was known by most of poker players around, 1 day a friend of mine introduce me to a guy who have huge bankroll and looking for good players to stake. i am one of them.

since then, ive been playing regularly in 5/10 game. i wasnt doing really well at the beginning because i am not use to the stake and the amount of the money just influence me. after a few games i started to adapt and doing well.

after awhile, a local online poker site started to boom, live games become lesser and lesser. but i ve not been doing very well in online, can even make it through microlimit in pokerstars and and fulltilt.

One day, the guy who has been staking me, decided to stake me to play 10/20 through online. so i took the chanced. Unfortunately, after the day i started to play online, i am not sure why, i kept loosing. nit just online but live as well, i never down so much in 1/2 game in my career before, 3 sesssions, i was down $2000. then 1 day i went for 5/10 game, i couldnt believe my eyes.
i was cripple $5000 with 2 hands. set over set, fullhouse over fullhouse, and the beat just keep coming.

all the beat just keep coming through live and online game. i am kind of giving up. i love to play poker because of the non luck factor effect. but after all the bad beat that happening, it changes my mind.

what should i do guys? i am asking and looking for advice to all poker players out there...

Please help me....

1. online 10/20 is way way way harder than live 10/20 so you might be outclassed
2. yes, runbad will cause tilt and tilt Will influence your game
3. no offense but you might have been running good before the downswing - I understand you haven't exactly spent a lot of time studiying strategy?

well just drop down and regain confidence, maybe sign up for a training site, it will help

of all skill games with significant edges, poker probably has the most luck factor.

My advice would to keep your head up through the downswings, it happens to us all. Dont quit playing poker, just play at much smaller stakes and gradualy work your way up from there. And as far as working on your game hire a coach OR subscribe to a site like DEUCESCRACKED and watch training videos, its helped my game a lot!

at first i think u should not play the same limits online u play live. online limits are so much tougher these days than the live games. some people advocate the "10x" rule which means that if u beat 1/2 online u could probably beat a 10/20 live game(just talking about skill, not BRM). which also works the other way around. which means that you should definitely should drop down in stakes when u come from an offline background.

and dealing with variance online is way harder than offline i think cause u play way more hands.

running bad definitely influences your game in a negative way, so when u know you are not playing your a game just move down in stakes build up new confidence and then move up again.

getting a coach or membership at an online training site can also get ur confidence back

Ya obv run bad influence your game, at least it does with me. It only takes like 3 badbeats in a beginning of a session for me to **** the whole session up, ( 18 man sng ). I hate getting tilted so easily and its a problem i must work with.

One more thing, when im running bad i always move up to higher stakes with higher buy in, wtf is that about? Not logic at all :/, fml!

Just because you can beat live games does not mean you can beat much tougher online games.

If your bankroll is $6,000 you shouldn't be sitting in a 5/10 or 10/20 game

Of course losing 80% of your roll is going to influence how you play. Honestly you shouldn't be playing 5/10 with less than a $50,000 roll.

A 5k run at 1/2 is good and you probably have some talent. However I am going to tell flat out. 1/2 live is pretty much the easiest poker gets. 10/25 cent online might be tougher. .25/50 online definately is. I was building my bankroll up in October. I played .25/50 online and was beating it. I would take weekend trips to casinos and play 1/2. 1/2 live is a cakewalk compared to .25/.50 online. I used to play on bodog at 10/20 everyday and beat it back in 2006. I thought i was great but I wasnt, it was the game that was great. 10/20 on stars and FTP, unless your gonna play in the nosebleeds thats about as hard as it gets. Ive tried it and was stunned that when I switched sites from Bodog I became a losing player.(dont try it on bodog now - I did, its gotten tough).

If your looking to make money online. Start with the sit n gos. I tell all my friends this. They dont believe me at first. Then they lose in cash and try the SNGs and win. Its easy to beat. 9 handed SNGs are tougher than the overagro 6 maxers. ALso, after studying my poker tracker, I noticed that even as a big winner in smaller stakes, rake compared to return was smaller in SNGs.

One last point. When Ive been losing and my confidence is starting to leave. I like to move down. Book some small wins just to get back in the groove.

Yeah the ants in my pants guy said it best. I didnt know there was a 10x rule. However, I play 1/2 online and went to the borgata in AC and played 10/25. I didnt like playing that high because i was out of my comfort zone. However the night was rolling around and the table was loose. Neway i net lossed about 200 bucks and some of those pots were 5-10k. I took money from the fish but lost it back to a young shark who I heard pretty much lived at the table so I wasnt upset. Look for the loose tilty overtired night games live. Its a totally different ballpark than the noon games.

Ive been grinding in a 5/10 live game table, with mostly with the same group of players. i was winning consistently at the beginning, but i started to realize that i cant get pays off compare when i just started to play with group.
As the title stated above, most of the players are Chinese businessman with low knowledge/principle in NL Hold'em, they tend to gamble alot.

This is the example of the everyday situation, the pre flop raise will be 10-12x the BB, there will be more then 3 callers every hand, with any random cards. they are not really bothered by the pot odds for a drawing hands, they mostly get too exited with a nut draws.

So my question is, does playing only the 5 best starting hands, like AA and KK is the best way? or is there any other ways?
i have been playing solid for all session but, nowadays they are just smarter, i cant any action every time i raised pre flop, or just 1 bet on the flop.

I really appreciate any advice. Thanks

Obviously the locals that you're playing with have identified you as a nit and have decided that when you raise or bet, you have a strong hand and they're not going to pay you off.

I have some questions about this "local indonesian online poker site" if you could pm me.
