What's the easiest way to make $30/hr playing poker? I need money on a monthly basis. I've been playing tournaments the last 3 years with no major scores and now I need to grind and I don't know what cash games are currently best for equal to or greater than $30/hr.

My BIO: I started poker in 1986. Played recreationally till 1996. I turned pro 1997 to present. I live in Las Vegas. The games I play are:
Live Cash: 15-30 H; 2-5 NLH; 20-40 S8; 10-20 S; 20-40 S8; 10-20 Omaha8 kill; 5-10 PLO;
Live Tournaments: 200-10k buy-ins; same games as Live Cash;
Online Cash: 5-10 H; 0.50-1 NLH; 3-6 S8;
Online Tournaments: $11-215; same games as Live Cash;

Live donkaments is prob the worst way.
Long dry spells, etc.

Play online cash games.
$30/hr is nothing.

If you've been a live pro that long, you should know your earn in each of those live settings. Just pick whichever will get what you need and you enjoy the format.

Play 1-2 NL Hold 'Em live cash.

However, the fact that you need to ask this question after 12 years of being a pro and that you need to grind after playing tournaments for three years is odd. Can you tell us a bit more about your experience?

50nl hu is the easiest way imo

Depends on your strengths and how hectic your willing to let sessions be.

You could probably play 12 tables or more of .10/.25 FR and get there but .25/.50 would be easier (and potentially much more).

You could play tons of DoN sngs at $10-20 level and get there..

With a proper BR you could play just a few tables of games 6max and get there or 1 or 2 HU tables if your good at HU.

If your limit holdem game is decent you can play 3/6 6max (or HU) and probably do it with a few tables. You could do that with a full ring as well probably playing like 4-6 tables.

Get RAKEBACK! This can make a huge difference and help offset running bad. If your playing on stars then save your fpps and buy bonuses otherwise get real money rakeback credited on other sites that offer it like FTP,etc..

I'd minimize your MTT schedule if your looking for consistent income. You could play 45man-180man sngs which are small mtts that go fast but otherwise play minimum amount of tourneys for a while to minimize variance and frustration.

With your experience I'd say much more is doable but to stay clear of tournaments if you don't want more of consistent income instead of long stretches of very little cashing until you make a big score. GL

If you play 6 tables of 100NL and you get rakeback, you'll make around 18$ just with that. So you'd need a winrate of 2bb/100 to reach the 30$/hour.

become a full tilt pro would be the easiest.

Get a job paying $35/hr that lets you play while at work.
One-table microstakes and only lose $5/hr.

I would think the easiest way to make $30/hr would be a live $2/5 NL game at the Bellagio or Venetian. You could make 6bb/hr without even trying in those games.

Multitabling microstakes STTs with rakeback for sure. Easier competition in games that are more calculable with less rake-rape. Winner by a long shot IMO.

NL100 and rakeback seems fairly enough.
