hey guys a little about me, I am 25 i been grinding online for the last 2-3 years i used to grind low stakes-mid stakes mttsng and some 6max cash games at .50/1,....i was not a huge winner but i have a hunger to get better which made me a small winner. I have an incredible appetite to excel at this game i understand variance and i feel i understand the game pretty well however i feel like theres something missing i feel like i am so close to just like some sort of mental break through that will raise my win rate. I have played about 20 live tournaments at $35-150 buyins had about 7 final tables but nothing huge as these were not tough fields at all, but i guess i read something that went a little like this, bad average and mediocre players complain about being card dead the most, and you rarely hear good and great players complain about being card dead, i dont always feel i am being held back by the bad cards, but i do tend to feel it enough for me to be missing something there, i dont know if i explained that correctly. I love reading strategy articles and getting other players points of view but I am still missing something in my actual game its like the info is there i just need to connect the dots. All the way up until this point i have most likely been doing one or several things wrong, and im not losing in the game but im just breaking even or winning small and i hate it! i am pretty much open to anything for the live arena, due to the recent online tragedy my bankroll is limited to just about $300 insane i know.

ok yeah i totally agree its not enough, but i gotta do it, so i will be dividing my 300 to 150x2 and uhm i guess ill go from there, i think the best live days are friday and sat nights so heres where discipline has to kick in, i wont be seeing the tables for another couple of days.

any strategic thoughts i should be aware of, i guess for 1/2 i kind of stick to playing a tight solid game but i feel i can be a little nitty at times, and the sick part is that most of the time its like i see the weakness but i allow my hand to stop me from following through, any words of wisdom would be awsome!

You can be a winning player and still have a negative expectation. In your case it doesn't really matter if you get better at the game itself - your risk of ruin is extremely, extremely high given your current "bankroll"/budget. There's no sense in being all gung-ho about poker because you're an overwhelming favorite to lose the money you have no. Are you employed? If not, get a job. It's tough out there but take your desire for poker and use it to fuel your drive to get employment. Go to work, get a life, play/study a couple of days a week and keep building.

You can study poker for free/cheap by talking hands with other players, watching training videos, and spending time with PokerStove and a calculator.

I'm in FL and depending on your location you could find a 1/1nlh game. Play TAG and try to build up a roll. On thing is certain, do not bluff, they won't work. Other than that, if you want you can PM approx location and if you're close enough or if I'm traveling your way I'll help you out with some pointers.

Best thing is like you said, get together with some like-minded young or older experienced players and discuss strategy. This site is good to garner poker knowledge through all the forums they have. GL

Card dead shouldnt be an excuse due to you being able to play the players and not necessarily the cards.. Pick the nits and tight players blinds to harass.. (in a tournament setting) Put pressure on the weaker players and use position to your advantage.. Timing is everything..

Oh and your bankroll.. I had a similar issue not to long ago about having limited funds.. I just had a kid 2 months ago and have to blow most of my roll on diapers, cloths, toys and all that ****.. Anyways I started back up playing a month ago but I started with buying into 1/2$ for 60$.. The bare minimum.. I played like the biggest nit youve ever seen in your life and made big plays with my small stack.. AKA seeing a raise around 10$ and 2 callers.. I would shove with a premium hand (sometimes lol) and steal the 33$ or get a call and take down a 83$ or so pot before rake.. Either way having 5 separate buyins instead of 2 is a much better route..
