What do we consider to be ratholing/shortstacking though. If I get a mission like "see 3 flops at PLO/NLH" then I'm going to get it done by buying in for my standard buy-in (i.e. 50 BB) at a few tables, and leaving the tables to go back to SNGs when I'm done - which doesn't take long.

Is that OK as long as I don't leave and buy back in for the same amount? The only time that would occur in my case would be if I was called away from the computer for some reason and had to restart. Maybe it should work the same way as Banzai, where if you want to return within 30 minutes you have to buy back in for your previous stack.

Absolutely no problem with that. Leave and come back in 30-60min taking a break, sure. But it's not ok to have 200bbs in one hand and then 50bb in the next while still sitting at the table or closing the table and coming back insta with 50bb. We're playing NL, not shortstack PLO!

Congrats on the feature that remembers your table positions and your email address for the login. Much more enjoyable to login and play now.

Doing it constantly never playing more than let's say 80bbs.

Also worth noting that its much easier for a bot if it can keep playing the same stack size by leaving every time it wins a pot and coming back with the original amount.

I don't think that practice really constitutes an "abuse" of the feature.
It sounds to me like the real problem is at 25NL+, where professional short-stackers are buying in short and ratholing.
Not really. It's a very small percentage that's got anything to do with that.
The abuse is mostly at the lower stakes, where it's winning players doing it, hence that's where we'll first enforce the new rules.

At the higher stakes, it's a completely different type of players that do the majority of the ratholing, and for 200/400 the games would very likely be negatively impacted if we were to change anything in terms of ratholing.

Appreciate all the feedback, and we'll of course be monitoring things closely when the changes are implemented (no ETA at this stage).

Now I'm getting an actual error message "Unable to identify your location"

Are refunds automatic in these cases? I had some unstarted tournaments and a couple of already started ones.

You do know something is really shady when you see both Zia1 and Kenny2R with 10+ buy in stacks

I also got it working today, everything worked great until my opponent hit the nut straight against my 2:nd paid top kicker.

I don't know, but it looks very suspicious that in last 2-3 week cash traffic has increased. I can see many good players playing for 6-8 hours straight. Sometimes with only 1-2 players at the table. They have the same style, same bet sizing.
And it also looks suspicious then traffic decreases by 20-25% in a minute. Again, I have my doubts about that, but is really strange and I'm not the only one who notice it.

OK, that's fair enough, as you've obviously got data on the main culprits. If it's mostly higher-volume players, then doing something about it seems like a solid plan.
I'm just concerned for the guys higher up, who have expressed the problems of tables dying, games just not running at all, or shortstack regs ratholing and returning immediately. At least at 4NL, there's permanent traffic, and the average customer will barely notice that someone ratholed their winnings, as someone else will often take their seat when they leave. It must be incredibly annoying for regs (or casuals) at 100NL+, when they can't even get a 100bb game running due to shortstack predators "ruining" the fun. :/

@ArtyMcFly The way he phrased it sounded like they might not really be "the predators" at those stakes, and more like the opposite.

Still, fun, and having games not crash and burn because of them is an important factor as well. While warning/banning them would be silly, maybe if they had limitations they would still join with 100BB. But then again, maybe the worry is that they'll lose money too fast and tank their accounts in that situation.

Since making the post the other day there have been at least three times when I was playing and a healthy pool died within 10 minutes of a shortstacker sitting down.

Most recently myself and another reg were playing HU on 4 tables, as soon as the ratholer sat down the games died, there are now two players in the pool.

This is happening all the time at the higher stakes. I've deposited on another site so that I can go there and play when it happens.

There has to be some recreational players who are affected by this - how many of them will go and try out another site when the games on Unibet die because of the ratholers? Will they come back?

How many bbs are these ratholers buying in for?

I will be looking further into this. It's been a few months since I looked at the data, but back then the conclusion was as I wrote above.
Even if things have changed and it looks different at the higher stakes now, we will likely still have a phased approach where the change is first introduced at the lowest stakes.
