So you guys are telling me it is 2 weeks to approve cashouts, 3-5 weeks to receive check, and then it may very well go to collections for 6-8 more weeks? Poker may be legal by the time I get this cashout. I guess I should have read this thread before I deposited and luckboxed that OPS event...

absolutely not. requested -> processed is anywhere between <1-3 weeks. after that you'll usually have your check in 1-2 days. dont allow it to be sent to collections and it clears in a few days.

Im pretty sure almost all US banks have to to this with international checks, Since it does not have a U.S. routing # they have no way of verifying the funds. Standard procedure. I was also kind of like WTF first time they told me But usually hits my account within a few days. Weeks to go threw collections is just there generic response for foreign checks. Since Its just coming from the north and not Nigeria are something its usually less then a week.

^ that isn't true. if they say they're sending it to collections, they're probably sending it to collections and it will take weeks.

edit: realized u may be giving institution-specific advice, if that's the case i wouldn't know. but not all US banks say they have to send it to collections.

My bank can't be the only one that makes funds partially/fully available the day after deposit with all funds available by the 2nd day. I find that hard to believe. Just sayin...

When I cash out from Carbon, it take 24hrs for them to process it and about 10 days to cut the check and fedex it to me.

When I deposit in my bank, a small regional bank they did charge me an additional $35 to process it and took like an additional 2 weeks for the fund to go into my bank account because the check is from a Canadian bank.

I think someone here mention something about cashing it at 1 of those checking cashing place I will try it next and let you know how it work out.

I don't know anything for sure but I suspect how you look when you walk into the bank is not nearly as important as how much money you have in your account. Trying to cash a 2.5k check with 375 dollars in your account probably won't go well. Just leave 10k in your checking account. Shouldn't be a problem for you guys who ball outta control.

Exact opposite for me. Seven to 18 days to process, then 1-2 days to fedex it to me. You've probably got 2 chances of a check cashing place cashing your check. Slim and none. And, as I understand it, Slim left town. Your best bet, as has been mentioned thru- out this thread, is to open an account at a large multi-national bank that is used to foreign checks- per Kahn. My bank for instance, has locations thru- out the east coast. I have deposited all my checks via teller since 2011 with funds available the next day except for my last 2 checks. Partial funds were available the next day, then the full amount the following day.

they make it pretty clear: deposit via teller and DO NOT take it to a check cash spot. so i wouldnt try that Mr Diamond.

Ok so in reality it is a few weeks for approval, a week or less from there to receive, and possibly two more weeks for collections then? Just wondering if my check will be here in time for Christmas shopping, and it sounds like it will be. I sent my documents in years ago so no problem there.

It never hurts to dress up when going to the bank. Or at least to take a shower (I know this is difficult for many poker players!). There is a human factor involved when you do business with anyone, especially a bank.

Imagine how you would feel if you were the teller/manager and some guy who was wearing a hoodie, smelled like ass, had not shaved in a week, and looked as if he was high/hung over walked in with a weird type of check that you had never seen before.

Now imagine how you would react if that same guy walked in with a nice suit on, shaved face, cologned up. You are going to have a much more favorable reaction!

It's like those tests they did about jay walking and guys in suits years back... people trust well dressed men considerably more. It's just a fact of life.

yup, my advice still stands! You'll have far fewer issues with a bank who may have actually seen a foreign check before rather than a mom and pop local credit union who only cashes payroll checks.

I've only heard of one person successfully turning these checks into cash at a check cashing spot. I've heard of a number of people failing to do so.

I actually think I found a place that would do it, but I never tested it and it is only available to certain metropolitan markets.

2-15 days approval has been standard for a few months now. Shipping time is typically 2 days after approval.

Yea, the percentage sent off too collections is single digits and low single digits if you use a better bank.

Hey guys.. anyone from outside US who was able to receive bankwire transfer from Merge? Last week they told me they offer only checks at present but the withdrawal page shows two options: check and bankwire.

They actually provided me with a Fedex tracking number for the first time. They gave it to me two days ago and it still doesn't show up on Fedex's tracking site. Maybe it's bogus?

Is there a consensus on why sometimes banks have to send to collections and other times not?

I am a euro player looking to get on merge. What skin offers the best cashouts for non-us players and what are the different methods/max withdrawal and waiting times for the withdrawals? Thanks for any info in advance!

I am a Canadian player that is having no luck withdrawing. I requested it Nov 11th and it is still "pending" Worst part is I busted my roll and would like to top off with another $50 but you cannot deposit while you have a "pending" withdrawal. I am not going to cancel my $1500 withdrawal that has been "pending for 12 days now and start over so they lose as I switched to full tilt and will deposit there. There is no reason that a withdrawal should take this long. I sent an email and they came back with this stupid reason of "with the new legislation it is harder to get money from off-shore into the United States " I then mentioned that since I live in Canada where on-line gaming it totally LEGAL they should have no problem. I have not heard back from them since.
Anybody have any idea how long this is going to take? I know if this is the "norm" I will NOT be returning to Carbon
