I've never met someone who plays poker even just to gamble and have fun that doesn't have any intention of ever winning or being a winning player. They may not understand how to get better or want to put in the work to do it, but not many people like doing things they think they will never be good at.

Recs don't seem to think they are that much worse in skill than professionals, just unluckier.......

Clearly NASA wasn't challenging enough.

Many recs also don't keep track of what they are up or down over a long period of time. If you asked the other 9 people in a live game whether or not they are winning players I bet they all say they are.

Not that it affects me, but the SNGs that are removed are the KOs, 9max turbos and 6max regulars.

I see no regular speed 9-man's either. Does anyone have the definitive list of what SNG's were removed by Carbon?

all $215s, all 9m above $5, DONs above $33, 6m turbo and hypers above $60 (but they still offer $109 6m turbos for whatever reason) i think thats it though lol

for a site that loves to take away mtts with potential overlay you would think they would love the risk free $$$ that sngs offer...

Dumb question. If I use the mobile version do the HHs still save to my desktop the next time I log on. If not is there a way to download HH.

Essentially their fullring sitngos are mostly gone. That's the most standard form of sitngo. I've never liked to play the 6 man sitngos on any site because of the high potential for collusion.

I think that they are trying to push players into the supersonics. All those supersonic freerolls that they were giving was a part of that push. Supersonics are very difficult for most players to make any kind of profit on. I'm sure that any players that do happen to make a profit will find themselves severely restricted from playing those games. This is probably just Merge's attempt to move sitngo's in the direction of becoming casino games.

Its a pity I was starting to get into the KO sitngos, I really hope they don't eliminate anything else I like to play. I won't touch those supersonics. They are entertaining to watch but it seems like they would be high variance/shove or get blinded out games. Is the traffic down on the sitngos or is it just me? There still seems plenty to play but I just hope there is not a downward trend.

I'm guessing there were some major fish donating in those high stakes sngs that they would rather have donating to them in the casino and sports betting. Good Lord I hope they're not really trying to push everyone into the super sonics those games are pretty atrocious, and this is coming from a winning hyper player. /tinfoilhat

I win at the hypers too but the supersonics are created in a way that is pretty much unbeatable. Not only do the blinds go up quickly but they come around so often that the game becomes a crapshoot. And the reduction in rake isn't anywhere near enough to compensate.

I'd like to note that it isn't just the highstakes sitngos that are gone. It's all the 9 mans over $5.00.

I for one have never, and will never, play a single 'supersonic,' so-called, poker tournament. They are a joke and I hardly consider them to be poker at all. They are to poker tournaments what McDonald's is to 'fine dining.' It's clear that Merge is hostile to winning players. I haven't bothered with Black Chip in a while, can anyone tell me what their SNG traffic is like lately?

Pretty weak from what I hear but it's about the only place you're going to find proper rakeback these days.

Question on Hand Histories:

If I want to view just text versions of a hand history (not in the Carbon player) later while not on the client, is there a best way for this?

When I go to the folder to look at the files, they're not .txt. If I open then in .txt, they are effed up. I'm probably doing something stupid technically?

I just want to review some hand histories, so just looking for tips...thanks :-)

pokertracker has an option to convert the HHs into a text format (im sure HEM probably has something similar but I Cant confirm personally)

SuperSonics are also winner-take-all which further reduces attainable edge since there are no ICM/bubble mistakes to be made.

lol @ removing $11 9-max NLHE SNGs. Merge still keeps you guessing!

I would assume they are moving in the direction of taking all sit and goes away and this is just a slow process. Since a week or 2 ago they took away all the KO's and regular speed 9man sngs. Pretty interesting strat by their experts in charge.

and ya wtf lol were the "fish" losing too much at $11 9mans that merge just couldn't handle it anymore?

I'm so glad I read this thread before making a deposit for the Carbon Ops. Thank you for sharing all the BS and leaving my blood pressure at non-cardiac levels.

Any affiliate who promotes Merge is a shyster IMO. They are screwing you guys who still play there, and they will continue to screw you in the future if you continue to play there. Take the $$$ and run while you can.
