there is no possible way for Bovada to know which people use these forms of their name, as the only information you input into their systems are your full first-middle-last names.

its just incredibly obvious the whole thing is a farce.
maybe it is and maybe it is isn't who cares

Something other than getting nothing and the site keeping the money. Probably getting an equivalent denomination ticket at worst.

When I first started playing here I assumed I'd get an equivalent ticket and was pretty pissed when they blind sided me. I praise them for a lot, but this ticket policy is bull **** since it isn't put into the lobby when you sign up.

I'm having an annoying issue running Bovada on windows 7, I'm not even sure how to describe it. The client will load, i'll try to join a table but the table sits behind the lobby window. Clicking on the table in the task bar doesn't do anything. When I try to drag the lobby from in front of the table, it looks something like this:

Afterwards the main lobby becomes unresponsive. If I try to close the main lobby, the whole thing freezes.

How do I fix this?

Been playing on Bovada for about a year now, and for the most part it has been a very positive experience. I am curious why more in the US are not taking advantage of this? I hear many on 2+2 complaining about the lack of internet poker since BF in the US, and Bovada is a great alternative. Not as good as Stars or Fulltilt (at least what I thought back before it imploded), but a solid site nonetheless.

I assume anyone who knows anything about US poker currently is well aware of bovada.

Quick question if I deposit with netspend will they refund the fees? I'm assuming no just don't understand why they will for western union but not others.

Nope, I assume they push Western Union because they don't have to make up fake companies to cover up what you're really depositing for. They also save themselves from charge backs as they have no way of defending themselves if you decide to do that.

It's Bovada fees, not NetSpend fees. They charge 5% VIG just to use a Visa card.

Visa charges merchants on all transactions...

After digging...and an internet connection that keeps dying out (so excuse if this has been answered...) I was unable to find the following info:

I've been getting bonuses the past few weeks for Poker points...twenty bucks here or there. Anybody have any idea if there's a table that actually tells me how many points I need? Not complaining, but it always comes as a surprise...

I am sure this has been addressed in this thread, but does anyone else struggle using the software on a Mac?

What's your point?

Last edited by iPlayPLOhigh; 07-26-2014 at 08:23 PM. Reason: Very few merchants pass those charges on to customers

I read your note as "It's not NetSpend that is charging a fee, it's Bovada. That's evidenced by the fact that they even charge a fee on Visa transactions (implying that there's no reason for them to, since they don't cost them anything)". I guess I didn't understand what you were trying to say with your post.

If it's your first deposit... the bonus information can be found here:
http://poker.bovada.lv/poker-promoti...r-signup-bonus

If it isn't your first deposit, then I'm not sure, because there isn't a current points promotion.

They sent out a bonus to some players at the start of July. I don't recall what mine said because I deleted the email, but throughout the week they've been emailing me with an update saying I needed to earn X amount of points to get X amount of dollars.

Your edit reason is totally false. Almost all companies pass transaction fees along to their customers.

One prime example of this is when you see a sign in a restaurant that says "Credit card transactions under $X.XX will be charged a fee..."

For transactions over that amount, the fee is built into the margin.

As a side note... there are currently lawsuits pending in the US about how fees are passed on, and if merchants should be allowed to charge separate prices for cash and card transactions.

Correct, but it is very rare you go and buy something that is $100 and pay $107 (including my states tax) + a credit card fee. I can't go to the gas station next door and buy blunts unless I buy a fountain pop too, but they aren't charging me a separate credit card fee, they're just making the fee worth it.

There is law suits pending for everything in the US, so I don't see how that is a very good example for anything.

My dealership charges a fee for using a debit card for more than $5,000, but we eat it for anything under which is standard practice. There is nothing wrong with Bovada charging a fee, but it's not the norm at all.

Most gas stations have separate prices for cash vs. credit.

I've never in my life paid more for anything for using a debit card. I've been told I had to spend X amount though. Are we really nitting it up about the % of places that charge debit fees? Yes, it happens and there is nothing wrong with it, it's still not common practice because it pisses customers off.

Fwiw, it's BS merchants have to pay extra for it in the first place, but that's a whole other argument.

This is indeed true. The one near my house $0.25 add on, and they don't tell you about it.

This is explicitly illegal in many states. In a few states they are allowed to "Discount cash purchases" as opposed to "charge a credit fee"... which is just a lawyers way around.

If your argument is that people don't *explicitly* pay merchant fees, as in, there isn't a merchant fee line-item on your receipt, then yes, I agree with you.

But your argument was that merchants don't *pass on* those fees... which is totally false. They build it into pricing.

When Bovada shows you the fee (Which incidentally, is definitely *not* the merchant fee), they are being much more upfront about it than most. Their fee however, goes to cover many things having to do with their processing, and I'm assuming a fair bit of it is just profit.

FWIW, I also think that the merchant fee structure is complete bull****, so at least we can agree on that.

Is this the right thread to ask how tough the weekly 162 200k is going to be this week? Thinking of playing. Highest I've played in bovada was the $55s
