If true, that must be very new..like in the past couple of weeks.

Requested a withdrawal a few weeks ago and it was free..

I am pretty sure you still get free checks if you don't have the VFF option. If you have VFF then no more free checks.

You can enter it with one of those 200 points = tournament ticket poker promotion they have been running.

Obv. all luck, so I entered..maybe I have a chance..
Is this really a promotion? You can convert 200 points into a $20+$2 ticket? it's usually 2200 points for those tickets so that would be nice.

Yeah, you had to have received the e-mail though.

First 100 points got you a $10+1 tournament ticket. Then you can get up to 9 additional $20+2 tickets for every 200 points.

Lasted 6 weeks, ending April 17..all tournament tickets must be used by April 25.

One of Bovada's better recent promotions..

OK, I don't have VFF, so that could be why it is still 1 per month free for me..

This might be as close as you can get -
https://localbitcoins.com/buy_bitcoins

Other option is to establish an account with Coinbase (or some other) . You need to go through KYC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_your_customer, link up a bank account, then a debit card and they will give you a very small instant buy. Otherwise an ACH transaction takes about a week.

Was informed of this last Saturday. Person on phone stated it was new.

Do you have vff as an option to withdrawal? People like myself without vff still get free checks.

Like AUGUY55 has said over and over, again and again, some of us still get a free check per month - it is only people with VFF that no longer get a free check.

edit: anything customer service tells you has to be taken w/ a grain of salt. They will blame your internet connection for disconnections even when you internet is working. I think they probably just have a few key scripts to work from and they just don't know enough to go off script.

Oh okay. I used a cc to deposit, so I doubt it would work.

I used a CC to deposit too. Can I withdraw 3 or 4k to a CC? Or should I just do a $50 check?

You can, but you to need to make sure you don't withdraw an amount that would give your CC a positive balance or the bank may reject it.

Unless you have a 3-4k outstanding balance to pay on your CC you should do a check.

Yeah, the reason it's tougher to buy bitcoin instantly online is because bitcoin transactions are non-reversible, but your payment is. Once they release the bitcoin to you there's no way for them to take it back if your payment bounces or whatever.

So the main options like Coinbase or Circle might make you wait, or jump thru some verification hoops before they release bitcoin and raise your limits.

If Coinbase gives you a low initial limit you can help raise it by verifying your identity, adding a credit and debit card, and making a successful smaller purchase.

You can enable instant purchases if you add a credit card as a backup payment method. Payment is still made with an ACH transfer from your bank as normal but they release the BTC instantly. Your credit card won't be charged unless the ACH fails (along with a 3% penalty).

You should also try creating a Circle account... they may give you a higher limit, and it's good to have accounts on both as a backup anyway.

Circle also does let you purchase instantly for free with a debit card.

You might be able to find websites willing to sell for other methods like PayPal, or as GutZ mentioned sellers on LocalBitcoins, but you may have to pay a premium for the convenience and the risk they are taking.

Tried out the bitcoin deposit option today, worked like a charm. The verification window is also a pretty nice touch - should be nice when they get BTC withdrawals sorted out too

Thank you for this, diving in trying to understand the ins and outs of BTC can be a bit overwhelming. The appeal of bitcoin especially with bovada would be lower fees for depositing, so having to pay a premium for btc would completely defeat the purpose.

What is the difference between something like the coinbase wallet and the gemini exchange?
