Thanks but apparently it doesn't matter. New York is one of four states in the US that you can't sign up from. F*** NY.

So, I've been playing live poker for several years, and within the last 6 months or so have become acclimated to online poker. I have consistent good results in live cash games, and typically cash in most tournaments that I enter.

Being an American player located outside of the borders of New Jersey and Nevada respectively, I have the unfortunate stigma of being relegated to playing on Bovada.

The reason I'm posting today is to get a consensus on the possibility of getting staked for SNGs / Cash Games (1-2 NLH, 3-6 NLH) on Bovada. Through my research, it seems that this is unlikely since Bovada maintains absolute anonymity amongst it's players, thereby eliminating any kind of tracking software (HUD), and making it difficult to provide performance data to potential backers to determine if you're a worthwhile investment.

Has anyone ever been staked to play Bovada tables? Is this a silly notion? Your comments / advice are appreciated!

You must have played one without collusion. I've played a lot of them the past week and I bookmarked 4-5 games I'm going to spend later today looking for proof of collusion. Idk if these idiots realize that while it's anonymous, they do provide all hole cards 24h after completion.

I hate wasting my time and policing the games but I can't stand cheaters and losing $ because of it.

I play $20 DON's exclusively 40 hours a week and don't understand why someone would try to cheat that game. It's relatively easy to spot possible collusion especially 6 handed. I have on a couple of occasions emailed Bovada of "suspect" hands and have reimbursed on three different occasion.

I had been playing on merge but was getting sick of the dwindling population and deposited on Bovada this weekend. I got a Visa Netpay card and deposited instantly yesterday. CVS or Walmart will have them. Load them up, activate them and it should work.

I had a little money on Bodog years ago and didn't do any homework about this site before depositing again. This whole anonymity stuff is a little weird. I completely understand wanting to get rid of the HUDs and the tracking stuff and like that the games are so much softer but not even having names, or allow for player notes is a little awkward.

After re-reading the UB scandal thread from the "best of 2p2" thread I'm also a little worried about cheating/botting. In the past it has been the players, not the sites, that have discovered problems. Without that safety feature there really is very little from stopping superusers/bots and no one would know. I'm planning on writing an e-mail or something just asking a few questions about that. No reason to expect anything other than a copy/paste reply.

Anything else I should be aware of as a newbie?

Hand histories are available to download after 24 hours and include ALL hole cards. Super easy to spot colluding.

Also there is a hand history converter in the software section for sale. That will allow you to import into PT or HEM.

Just that 24 hours after your game is over, all hole cards are exposed in the hand history file. This is the way I review HH's if I suspect collusion/cheating. Maybe someone else can chime in here on cash HH's to confirm if the above is true for all formats and not just SNG/MTTs.

Has anyone else noticed they can't seem to pass the $600 mark on bovada? I deposited $100 3 months ago took me about 2 weeks to get to $600 grinding Limit games using poker indicator. But for the past 2 months or more I can't get past 600 anything like 620 640 in my account I run bad immediately. It seems to stop after i get bounced down to like 450 then right back to 600. I play about 3 hrs average a day play the same range of hands same way and play using my hud accordingly. No joking I've gone from 600 down to 450 and back to 600 atleast 15 times in 2 months? Anyone else notice this fishy thing happen to them?

Thanks for responses.

Do the hand histories include identifiable players or accounts or is it just "player x?"

players should not have to police the games though.

Completely agree, but there has to be enough disincentive in place to prevent cheaters. Historically it's been proven we can't rely on poker sites to do it all on their own without being prodded or handed evidence. The anonymous names issue obv exacerbates the issue, although exposing all hole cards does help.

I'll be curious to see what punishments are in effect for those caught cheating on regulated sites in the future and if any added consequence deters those who'd otherwise do it.

Is there an easy way to copy hhs and post them on the forum?

I saw commercial software for sale, but just want to post the occasional hh for review without spending money.

When I look at my hh in the client, it doesn't seem to allow me to hilight and copy the info.

Sharing some candy for anyone else who can't stand looking at the same 4 themes Bovada gives us. I'll post the images if there's want.

If you aren't playing PLO8 on Bovada you are crazy. Everyone should change their game from NL and PLO to PLO8. Even a newbie with halfway decent poker understanding could crush the game easy.
