If the price of bitcoin dropped fast. Yes.

It's possible but bitcoin prices have been pretty flat for the last week. No day has moved +/- 5%.

Here's a chart for the last month.

https://www.coinbase.com/charts

You would have to transfer at the window where the prices went up by a lot or down by a lot to get an 8% change in price.

Can you give more specifics? What day and time of day was it? How long did the transfer take?

Also consider the price each of those places assigns to BTC. As I'm writing this the price on the BlockChain is $606.80, Coinbase is $607.25 and Circle $616.99

And while Circle doesn't charge any fee, nothing is free. I feel like they also have different prices for buying BTC vs selling it.

It happened this morning. I sent $9577 to circle according to blockchain but I only received $9338 on circle. The transaction seemed to happen immediately.

Hey sorry if this has been answered in the past (I couldn't find any concrete answer in previous pages) but I request a $1900 payout from Bovada via bitcoin. Approved super quick and got the email saying it was approved. Per blockchain the transaction was a double spend. Will this correct itself (sorry just learning about bitcoin the past month). I took a screenshot should I email this to Bovada customer support? Thanks so much for any help and insight!

Next time you may consider sending your bitcoin to Kraken and selling it yourself. You will get a better price than dealing with circles exchange rate.

But circle usually gives you more for btc. So in the example above you would have gotten more.

1 btc on blockchain is $606. Send it to circle you now have $616, so you should have 1.5% more.

You would have less if you were sending from circle to blockchain.

Lol. That is kinda funny.
Circle does not even say what their spread is. All you can find online is some info in their help center. It says for amounts less than $3,000 circle MAY charge zero spread on your conversion. Yet it also says you might see a spread on amounts as low as $1,500. They are very vague. Clearly for his amount of almost 10k there was a spread.

If I had 10k of bitcoin I would want to bring it to an exchange and name my own price. This is a pretty good example of Circles hidden fees. Clearly they become very noticeable with a larger amount of coin.

Check it out. It is very vague:

Could you log into circle and tell me what they gave you on a btc price for today? If you click on the transaction it'll bring you to another page which has a total dollar amount and # of bitcoins.

I'm just trying to see if circle is doing anything shady. A google search doesn't show any users complaining they were getting bad prices from circle.

I checked about 1/2 dozen of my transactions over the past few months, ranging from $2k to $5k and it seemed to match the coinbase quoted price for those days. Actually I'm getting slightly more than the stated average price for those days.

Also I sold some btc on coinbase/gdax where you can name your own price. Not because I didn't trust circle's pricing but because I didn't want too much to go through circle. You might look at that if you are moving a lot of money.

Btw here is the range for btc prices for the last day

609.49 USD24 hour high
603.15 USD24 hour low

It looks like you got a price that was ~ 2% less than the going rate. So your difference had nothing to do with the volatility of bitcoin but a hidden fee by circle.

Not sure what I can say at this point. Maybe call circle and ask them to explain how they derived this price. I believe they have a phone number for support.

yeah. thanks anyway. I am surprised that no one had a similar experience like i had (at least no one posted about it). I will probably look into other exchanges without fees before i call them.

I switched from Bovada to Ignition 3 weeks ago and got an email from Bovada this morning saying I have $10 to claim (valid until the 25th).

So check your email and claim that ****.

I requested BTC transfer from Brovada last night around midnight. Received BTC in my wallet at 10:30am just now, so less than 12hrs is pretty redic but it was only $100 to test the BTC feature as I haven't used it before.
