It's not about whether or not they play each other. Nobody expects the 6 players in this instance to do battle with each other. I wouldn't be sitting at this table and playing them either.
The problem is that while some fish are horrible at poker that doesn't mean they are not intelligent. They can see what happens when they sit in and the other 5 regs start playing each other then when he sits out for a break or because he went bust all the regs sit out again. It just looks horrible and I cringe every time I see it.
It's likely a long term loss being cast aside for short term gain.
Watch the table, snap sit in when the fish sits in an empty seat and play 10 or 20 hands when he busts before he leaves the table. There isn't that great an edge difference that means you would get owned in 20 hands.
