WSOP ME moment of victory was a let down. WSOP ME moment of victory was a let down.

It was though wasnt it.

Just struck me as a bit strange that, at the moment Peter Eastgates life changed forever as he achieved poker immortality and riches beyond his wildest dreams, he looked as if he just smelt dog-shyte.

where was the victory cry/yell/roar?

where was the enthusiasm of youth, leaping around like a nutter?

or even a slight glimmer of a smile?

For fooks sake, i celebrated more when i won a low-stakes donkament!!!

Every single one of us has thought what it would be like to win the ME havent we? It would mean so much to so many people who, like me, have a huge passion for this great game of ours. So it seemed very weird that the actual winner showed absolutely no passion at all at the moment of victory. None. Nothing. Nada. It was a shame, because IMO it didnt do justice to the beautiful game we all play. I for one would have been screaming like a fookin banshee, wouldn't you?

take into the account the shock - waiting for 4 months to play the **** thing then winning it along with 9+ mill he probably wasnt sure how to react...

The guy just lost 75% of his win to his gov't. Maybe he was thinking...Damn, why didn't I move to some island before this!! :confuse d:

We're all different. Explaining how someone should react to winning the ME is just dumb.

Probably a bit overwhelmed imo. Danes are a bit more reserved. I will take his reaction over Yang and Gold's anyday.

I prefer a reserved reaction. It's got advantages on a couple levels. 1.) you look like you expected to win all along and this isn't a surprise. 2.) you show the other player respect rather than hooting and cheering and rubbing their loss in. (sure they might understand but it still doesn't make it any easier on them at that moment).

Just to add to the mix, mister eastgate were at least good for 2 milli prior to the event... so not groundbreaking stuff for him to be rich fwiw...

I am laying 2:1 that you would have reacted the same way.
You don't realize what just happened, you are still really focused and you are kinda shocked.

Haha, I loved his demeanor. Nothing is more gangsta than becoming the youngest ME champion in history, winning $9 million, and getting about as excited as winning a free order of fries at McDonalds Monopoly.

Seriously, seems like we always get threads where people celebrate TOO much, and we finally get a guy with some class and pride and you berate him?

Haha.

Eastgate was a comsummate class act right through the tournament. And while we're at it - WTF is with people criticising him for being a card-rack? He played great poker throughout, caught some breaks but what's he meant to do? Give the chips back? He flopped a couple of sets etc, but that's the point of set-mining.

Demidov and Eastgate were pure class, and a real breath of fresh air compared to the monkeys who have won in recent years. I'm delighted that we have seen a worthy winner.

Love from Casy151
