OP, if you're for real, do one of the following:

1. Contact Doug himself, get a photo to which you can confirm he owns the rights, then credit it as a courtesy shot.

2. Consult a photo agency to see if they have anything in their archives. I can tell you that neither Getty nor AP Images yield any results for Doug Polk on their sites (which should surprise no one).

3. Get in touch with photogs who specialize in poker. The first one that comes to mind is Joe Giron (http://www.pokerphotoarchive.com/), who pretty much has become the undisputed champion of shooting the tournament circuit in the last few years. I see 69 images of Doug Polk on there as of this post.

How much this costs totally depends on the nature of your article. For the photo I'm looking at right now, a full-size image for a worldwide magazine with a circulation of 1 million or more will run you $1,250. On the other hand, a quarter-screen photo for use on a North America-only news website will cost less than $200 for a one-year license. (There are any number of combinations; those are just two.)

If you don't want to go with Joe, find another photog who might be willing to make you a better offer. BJ Nemeth shoots numerous photos that appear on his WPT reports, for example. He once worked for a photographer named Rob Gracie, although I don't think Rob has shot poker in a few years.

If these guys are out of your price range, then you really have to get creative. If you see a photo that you like, find out who shot it. On your best days, you might get someone like me: a guy who has shot a few events on a freelance basis, and who would be willing to give you a shot for free because the photo credit helps get his name out into the industry.

Unfortunately, I haven't shot a poker tournament since the 2011 Bay 101 Shooting Star, so I can't help you. But a different version of me, if you can find him, might be your lucky break.
