Ant Zinno wins back to back WPT's. Dan Colman goes on an insane run. Dan Smith won multiple tournaments in a short time. Multiple bracelet wins by someone new every WSOP. What is behind these short bursts of insane run good? Is it increased confidence? Or, is there something unexplainable that people tap into for a short time (the zone) only to
fall out of this "zone". Is it cosmic (the secret, choice center, meditation etc. )? When you consider 30,000 people play the WSOP it seems unlikely that every single year someone binks at least 2 events, and yet it always happens. Thoughts?
Cobination of decreased money-pressure, increased confidence, and opponents often knowing against whom they play now, means, increased Ivey-Effect.
Though, I am in a backing deal for online MTT's, and after busting ~45 MTT's in a row, I won a 7-Game MTT for $2.7K and a PLO Hi MTT for €2.1K within one week. What I want to say is that none of the reason I mentioned above fully fits in my case...
I am pretty confident that my feeling that wins come in streaks are just a result of my selective memory, because I have no reason to remember a week where I broke-even and had some 6th and 18th places etc.
And regarding WSOP...Don't forget the Omaha, Limit and Mixed events have small fields...
If you are in a room with more than (iirc) 40 people, how high do you think that the chance that two of them are born on the same day is?
It's significantly higher than 50%
And with a few dozen K players at the WSOP, and several small field events with just 50-300 players, I think the chance that some guy wins 2 of them is not as unlikely as it seems, not even if everyone would be equally skilled, I think.
Though, 2 NLHE braclets in one WSOP would acutually be a pretty rare, I think.
Did that ever happen in the post-moneymaker-era?

I think there is a steam of consciousness thing going on that we on occasion tap into. We don't specifically know how to do it, thus, our results go back to normal.
Lucky runs are measured in number of hands, not tournaments.
If the designated number of hands is not used up at the end of a tournament, they carry over to the next one.
You only remember the guys who wins in waves is all.
Playing live tournies is a venture you will never see your full ev play out even in a lifetime hence why live tourny results are lulz worthy n a indication of nothingness.
There's a guy up there—some hamburger guy—that had his stand burned down last night. But he's still got a little stuff left, and for you people that still believe capitalism isn't that weird, you might help him out and buy a couple hamburgers.
Its called variance for every back to back winner their are 100 players who win one thing
or final table one event for the year. Sure skill matters, but luck plays a bigger part in these tournaments.
