Outside of the bodying of Wesley it’s been a little disappointing
HCL has a problem but doesn't seem to know about it just yet and the problem is Wes. On numerous occasions when winning he behaved like a POS but at least he was a quiet (not gracious) loser. Now, after being outclassed in the game and forced into a teenage drama "yo momma" conversation, Wes basically turned into a nit with a mountain of chips that are never in play. Tell me again why is he good for the game of poker and for HCL specifically?

He's got the money?

They need to come up with some players, fast.
I'm wondering who they're begging to play right now ?
Huss ???
would be epic if they found a rich benefactor to buy-in Robbi Jade Lew tmr

Rob & Wes probably won’t agree to play with Huss which is probably one reason why they can’t field a lineup for today.

Doug wanted to play last night, so I’m sure he’d be in, and I can’t imagine Handz and Airball wouldn’t play.

I cant blame HCL for any of this. Feldman was doing like 5 months of babysitting trying to put this together and all these players with their big talk bailed when it was time to throw down.

This is why games need pros. They show up.

I actually enjoyed all 3 days so far.

Yong, Airball, Polk and others are playing a $200/$400 game tonight off stream with a 1K BB ante.

sadly, this. I'm not an expert on HCL, but the entire show seems to be built around a very intricate network of recs believing they might have an edge in specific lineups. With this setup, one person withdrawing might have a domino effect, especially with stakes being this high

Nitucci said on his show just now than Wesley is getting into coaching. Surely he's nowhere near good enough to do that.

38:20 in the video.

unless there are certain players in the game who dont want to be on stream i dont see why they wouldnt just stream this game. it was dumb to promise only 1M+ buyin games for the entire week because it reduced their flexibility.

No, surely he's perfect for coaching. If he was a winning player, who was good at the game - why on earth would he get into coaching.... see various threads on here and Karki wonderful YouTube video on Charlie Carrel video.

In CC video he calls out losing poker players coaching

In Karki's [live stream now YT video] he calls him out, CC calls in, and Karki basically tells CC he's doing exactly what he's [CC] accusing of of doing - then tells CC for f off

So with that in mind... yes Wesley sounds like the perfect person to coach others... as long as he doesn't post any graphs

Said it last night on stream too, and he was wearing some EZ Poker shirt that I guess is he site?

Huss made fun of it all.

Wesley, the face of Dunning-Kruger

I agree that Wesley is "Bad for the game" and brings nothing. The language barrier is tough enough, and he doesn't really socialize. When he does he's awkward and comes off like a dick, but he's can dish it but can't take it guy.

You play a hand weird, he'll give you unsolicited advice. He wins a big hand he fist pumps and tells you you're bad or stupid. Huss gives him crap for being a nit and can't take it, all his hangers-on and lackeys probably only say yes to him all day.

Well, the interesting part [for me, maybe not news to anyone else] - is they have two versions of all the streams. One with commentary and one just with the player mics. The silent [no commentary one] they keep so they can edit the shows for TV networks.

I guess 'stupid' poker players just sign wavers that let HCL do what they want with the footage... as I doubt they are offering any broadcast fees to the players.

If they really don't pay players.

If they really charge rake.

Then all the players [esp the whales] are stupid. So fame hungry they can't see they can play elsewhere and not be on screen rather than play to boost HCL bottom line.

I suspect they do pay players. And I suspect the rake is part of the way they pay them. Maybe Tony G will get a nice amount. As it's standard in all casinos to reward high playing players with things like a percentage of losses back... I know this is not a casino game - but the whole stream - changes that balance. It makes no sense for Tony G to change his mind and say he's not playing, after which other players [who weren't getting what they wanted] backed out... so that then, when the game is 'worse' [at that point no Keaton, Mikki, etc] suddenly Tony G [when HCL is desperate and has a s* show on their hands] changes his mind again to now play. To me - just sounds like a demand was suddenly being met for Tony G.

Why would he not get an appearance fee?

I'm sure most places pay to have someone like him come along - even just to play low stakes... ok, maybe it's the sponsors but still it's a fee.

People keep blaming the language barrier but looking at his social awareness I'm fairly sure he's somewhere on the spectrum.

Either way, he's different and that's a good thing because its more interesting than a table of regs shuffling chips all night.

That line about the Dunning-Kruger effect is hilarious and spot on for all those whales with a basic grasp of poker.

Sure. I personally believe he's just an As-hole who's "rich" and just gets whatever he wants.

Huss called him out on just being a dick about the money last night, having to tell everyone how much his car costs (Ben said it's not his car), how much the whiskey he drank cost, buying in for 3M when maybe $500,000 was ever actually in play, talking about the yachts. He's just a dick

I highly suspect no one is getting paid to appear. This is a shoestring operation, this is not backed by a major media conglomerate with deep resources. Hustler Casino is not going to pay these people to show up I don't think. WSOP Main Event in its heyday never paid players to appear (remember when it was suggested there would be no rake in the main event because of all the sponsor/TV money Caesars would get?) Ryan probably thought there would be a waiting list to play in the games each night of people he approved because it was going to be so epic. It is not easy for others to just setup a game that is favorable to them. (Don't get me wrong, there are private games going on with some of these people, Nik Airball admitted it during his interview with Doug Polk).

I imagine this enterprise is profitable, but it is only on Youtube, the videos don't get millions of views I don't think. I can't imagine the in game sponsors (mostly foreign poker sites) are contributing too much to the bottom line. There can't be much money to go around to pay people to show up, they imagine people want to be on the show to push their own brands.

Ruyuske was hard vouched by Wesley to play in a privated game, then he played heads up with Nik Airball and the end. Airball won like 180k and Ruyuske didnt pay. By poker code Wesley had to pay this debt to Airball and Wesley also didnt pay
