which way do you think it is? more or less?

they were all in for $100K at the start and he lost that. he rebought for $100K and then topped up a short while later. he had gman covered in the AA vs KK hand, so probably topped up to ~300K

he lost it all, so looks like he lost at least 400K. commentator (they are rarely correct) said it was a bit more than a 400K loss

-$400K is a pretty good ballpark

-----

i do wish they would show the P/L of the players, but maybe they are not allowed to for some reason. I personally don't care if someone ends on $500K, when you can buy in for whatever you want, its a pretty meaningless figure

-----

there seemed to be a hand pretty much every hand yesterday, with serious coolers too, fun watching

It's certainly possible. Nothing surprises me in poker anymore. However, without having analyzed his play I'd like to think he just runs bad and plays bad at times. He's certainly done his fair share of both when I've watched him. I do think the call with King high was largely tilt induced.

I do understand why one might want to call the shove with King high but it seems to be a clear fold to me given the # of value hands villain could play like that, the number of bluffs Berkey blocked, the fact that some bluffs actually beat Berkey's hand, and given the context that stuck players are less likely to make disciplined folds.

He's openly stated that on line poker is not his thing but that he excels at looking his opponent in the eye in live games and reading them.

The river call is obviously ludicrous, and as you said even more so given that he's holding two key drawing cards, making it much more likely that his opponent has a made hand.
Not sure if he was doing it on purpose but Kruk was gulping. Berkey might have read that for weakness.

Anyone know how much Garrett ended up in the game?

Had a look at Matt Berkey's Hendon Mob http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?n=59644# and his tournament results are certainly very impressive so he is certainly a very good live tournament player.

But the jury has to be out though on cash games IMO after that call and we can watch with interest in coming games how he plays and whether he is a good live cash game player who can destroy recs or a great player who can compete with the best.

It appears Garrett started with approximately $125k which means he profited about $579k.

Take out his SHR $1.1M and ignore buyins for those events and we're left with a guesstimated $1.25M to $3M of total buyins, which is a range derived from multiplying his total non SHR buyins which are ~$250K by a factor of between 5 and 12. (average ITM% of 1 in 5 to 1 in 12)

Excluding SHRs he's cashed $2.8M

If you believe historically he's cashed on average 1 in 6 times in tournaments then he's $1.3M in profit.

If it's 1 in 10, he's still $300K in profit.

I'd guesstimate that his cashing rate's somewhere in the middle.

Over half of what he'd have won on Survivor.

I agree that Berkey's tournament results mean virtually nothing but saying that Hellmuth is a total fish is just silly.

Matt Berkey is back, looks like the same lineup that opened up last night's game.

Berkey is rather honest about his money and percentages, I wonder how bad he needs to book a win here.

This announcer has got to be one of the better ones in awhile. Let's the players chat, nice comments on the action.

Agreed. Ali does pretty much the same, but Brent Hanks(?) seems more poker-educated.

I will say, I'd love to not hear "Flick it in" as much. But that's nit-picking

Old man Bright has had like 10 tank folds on hero/thin call situations.
You're never calling...

Just floated the flop with no equity basically, checked behind on the turn for some reason, hit a pair on the river and folded.

wp Grandpa! Everybody knows a fourth bet preflop means AA, right?

Hint: This is not 1978. Your strategy might be outdated Grandpa.
