While I understand why most here WOULD take the money (I am among them) I also understand why Moon won't. If you think he is foolish, that is your opinion, but IMO it indicates you have much to learn about life. For some people there are things more important than money. Integrity is one of them. Moon's actions ought to be celebrated, not denigrated. He doesn't play online and doesn't want to be obligated to endorse something he doesn't use. This is a rare attitude and is IMO a superior trait. Congrats to Darvin, I hope he finishes 2nd to Ivey, but wouldn't mind seeing him win if Ivey can't.
I disagree poker players have some of the most integrity of any group of people I have ever known.
You obv haven't read or understood any thing I wrote. for the record I said that if he isn't taking endorsments for foolish prode he is dumb but if he isn't taking them because he doesn't want to be tied to the responsibilty he would have to put forth then I agree with him and fully understand. As well I haven't degenerated any of Moon's actions.
I'm not going to step away from from key board.

after seeing this interview I hope he wins it all. He's not taking endorsements for the right reasons not because he thinks is makes him moraly better than anyone ( which is what many who rushed here to tell everyone they know him claimed). Good guy all around and I hope he wins it.

This is the best link I can find to that story: http://www.victimsofthestate.org/WV/Ferrell.htm

Sad story. I hope Moon goes deep in this thing. I'm sure even 9th place money is more money than he'd ever need in his neck of the woods. Judging solely from his interviews, he seems like a pretty genuine guy.
Holy crap, that is one bizarre story.

As for everyone picking on him, that is typical.

...for a grade school lunchroom.

In a lot of ways, I think the greatest thing I could ever see would be Darvin Moon get it heads up with Ivey and then dissect Ivey with a series of brilliant multilevel moves, and then Ivey stands up and says "The better player won."

Well, I guess that would be second best, behind Ivey totally demolishing every player at the table.

This x a zillion. Moon, like Phillips, seems like a genuine person. More power to him.

You should also explain to him he is going to be bombarded with people wanting him to pay them to coach him and this is probably a very bad idea. Just look at what happened to Dennis philips last year.
THIS

Phillips was so nervous and over-coached he damn near finished 9th.

This is a fraud. There's a HSNL thread about it. As someone noted, if he's on facebook it's with a computer he whittled himself.

Is anyone else picturing a bunch of Appalachian lumberjacks firing up chainsaws every time this guy wins a hand at the final table? I'm still waiting for Harrah's to make a "Dennis Phillips / truck horn " rule like they did for Hevad Khan
