I absolutely despise the term "bananas" as a substitute for "weed" "ganja" "marijuana" etc.

It might have something to do with my visceral hate of bananas the fruit, but I think it's more like...I dunno, just a term that doesn't mesh with what it represents.

(Fwiw no more bananas for me for a while).

+1...Allen, u seem at least a decently smart enough guy to be able to tell the difference...if you get bored and decide to start another stupid thread, please stop and go watch some porn online...lots of free stuff out there

given your hatred of the word, you need to come up with a new one and start referring to "weed" "ganja" "marijuana" as:..... drum roll please.....

Since mister chainsaw made a fight with Marcel Luske this year at the WSOP I lost the little respect that I had for the guy. If it's possible to have less than zero respect for someone - this thread did just that.

It was, in fact, GambleGambel.

Allen, if you recall during the deep run you had at Foxwoods a couple years back, I was working for PokerWire. I had been using a graphic that said "intimidator" to describe the number of pots you were winning without contest (http://www.pokerwire.com/results.php...ator&uid=28149), which seemed unusual given your reputation as a tight player.

A friend of mine, Thomas Fuller (Gnightmoon), sent me an Instant Message that told me that he and his friends actually referred to you as "Chainsaw" which came from one of GambleGambel's old online poker screennames. I passed this information on to a slightly inebriated Gavin Smith (who, if I recall, was doing prop bets with Vince Van Patten at the time) who began using it on PokerWire Radio.

I've tried telling Gavin a few times that he did not, in fact, create your now famous nickname. Thomas actually sent an email to Pokerroad awhile back, but Gavin remembered the story differently. And he punches a lot harder than Thomas, so I stopped arguing with him.

Let's prolong the inanity by now speculating on where "doublejokers" came from.

Thanks jeremiah, now I understand why Gavin takes credit. He was probably drunk at the tinme and didnt remember the rest of the story.

Feel free to have me as a guest on your new "Cash Plays" show. My first appearance went off quite well....

If you are referring to when Marcel took a cheap shot by putting chips in the pot but not realeasing them; I was more than justified in my criticism of that.

Why would you have no respect for someone who stands up to an obvious angle shooter.

here is the story as reported by CardPlayer (Pokernews was there as well but didn't report it since Marcel was working for them at the time):

A large crowd started to gather aound Table 32 as Allen Kessler and Marcel Luske were going at it over a particular ruling. Apparently Marcel Luske made a forward motion with a stack of chips, signifying a call, but decided to check at the last minute. Kessler didn't like that and felt that forward motion should and did constitute a legal bet. The floor person came over and made the ruling, stating that forward motion doesn't constitute anything, the chips must fall into the pot to be a legal bet. That means that since Luske did not release the chips, there was no bet. Whether or not he motioned forward with them is irrelevant. Kessler persisted to voice his discontent with the ruling and Luske started to become somewhat aggressive, rising from his chair and yelling at Kessler.

I always thought that the nickname was invented by the one and only, the man, the myth, the legend, Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler. I'm quite disappointed to hear otherwise.

No, I had nothing to do with the name but always wondered how it originated.

Does anyone recall for sure?

Here is a quote from someone named GambleGambel:

Also... the poker community needs to recognize that it was I who originally nicknamed Allen Kessler the chainsaw over two years ago. It originally came up when moon and I joked how tight he was and how it reminded me of my old handle AKoChainsaw3 on party poker. AK being a beautiful pun for big slick and Allen Kessler.

It is fact that Gambler game up with that nickname. It is a shame that others have tried to steal the credit. When Gambler wins the main event he can go on pokerroad radio and clear this up once and for all.

What an all around hillarious thread.

I'm happy doublejoker figured out the mystery of how he got his nickname. 2p2 can sleep easy tonight.
