What's the Worst Angle You've Ever Seen? What's the Worst Angle You've Ever Seen?

The shutdown of most casinos and card rooms has me itching for some live games again. Which had me wondering what the worst angle shooting you've seen in a live game? Worst, biggest, sickest, whichever adjective most aptly describes the situation. If you've seen an angle online, that can work too. Cheers

It's not one I saw live personally but that one at the EPT feature table where the foreign guy flops a monster and facing a raise announces all in then immediately says I mean call. The TD gets called and obv says the all in stands but let's the other player know he did this before when he has a huge hand. It was just such a scummy move and you could tell the whole table was sickened.

That reminded me of this one! Pretending to muck his cards and then looking at his opponents' cards as people tend to do that "one last look" before mucking themselves and dragging the pot. crazy https://www.cardschat.com/news/ept-b...le-shoot-84180

Only happened to me once (he would've gotten sigh paid off if he hadn't so lol him) but I wish that happened a bit more to me simply because it was so damn obvious but somehow usually people still called. Sad that it worked on people far more than it should've but yeah all angle shooters are giant douchebags at best.

Knowing the floor and your opponent are giant pussies and cowards, to the point where you can get away with anything, puts this in the best angle shoot category.

edit: Oh, he didn't keep the money. Still stands for the floor.

the local playing high stakes PLO with dani stern at casino barcelona during the EPT who agreed to run multiway pots twice - knowing that only headsup pots can be run twice - and waited for an opportunity where it benefited him to abide by the rule.

i don't think the video is available anymore.

Playing £1-£3 Pot Limit Holdem in the Vic, London

I'm on Button to the right of the dealer.

MP raises, I fold, Seat 1 reraises, only MP calls.

On flop Seat 1 bets pot, MP folds

I know he's at it, and just want it confirmed so I sling in a row of £25s which means raise the pot. On the few occasions I'd done it in the past, the player normally looks guilty if bluffing and we have a laugh at getting the free info.

But this time he rolls his eyes and mucks his hand, and the dealer passes me the pot. I quickly flick my hand at the muck so it looks like my cards were sent in and in a flash I have instinctively gone from a 'straight arrow' to angle-shooting criminal

I once got pulled over and accused of making a left turn on a 45 degree angle with my f350 work truck. The cop was mistaken and I was actually driving straight, but in court, the judge sided with the cop even though he didn't have dash cam. If I could have shown them I could prove my truck could not physically make that angle of a turn without doing a 2 point turn. One of the worst angles I have seen

In a $2k at Lucky Chances in 2018 some genius throws in raising chips and about a second later says call. Of course it's ruled a call, but the thing is that were really deep and the raisers cards are pretty much face up. 3 other people including me take a flop. T52 rainbow, I had 77 so I obv wasn't putting any more money in the pot but one of the other guys got his ass 55 > KK, lol.

Slightly different but reminded me of my line when I was in front of the ethics board at university for being in a room with cocaine present. "I wish your officers drug tested me that day so I'd have evidence to prove to you that I wasnt using cocaine...". I won the judgement and got to stay.

I just learned about 5 minutes ago that the best would be to follow people so they can follow you back and then you go unfollow them.

Best angle ever.

Got cold decked at the Bike about 20 years ago. The "new dealer" kind of pushed the current dealer out of the box and brought two new decks with him in his tray. This new dealer was the same guy I had caught stealing chips from the pot in a 15-30 game weeks before. This game was quite a bit bigger though, 40-80 and included some of the best players at the Bike at the time. We were playing short handed, maybe only five or six players.

The very first hand I get dealt K,K. Naturally I raise and get re-raised by the guy to my left and just off the button. We make it four bets to the flop and it comes 7,K,5. More bets and raises and the turn is another 5. Again we max out the bets and the river is an Ace, of course. Now I hesitate, sensing something funny going on here. I check, he bets and I call. He shows me two Aces! I lose 800 on that hand and I quit the game. I'm pretty sure I got fkd but there is not a damn thing I can do about it. A short time later that dealer got fired from the Bike and blackballed in L.A. I saw him again about a year later dealing in some small cardroom in Vegas.

The second one happened at the Mirage sometime in the late 90's when the games were so good over there. I was playing in the "big game" 40-80 and doing okay. Again it's a new dealer and pretty soon I'm in a big hand with the guy in the nine seat, next to the dealer. He rivers me on a big pot and I take note of it. A few hands later we get in another battle over a big pot and I have Aces up on the turn. This guy next to the dealer has called several bets and raises during the course of the hand. The river comes an innocent small card (2 or 3) and I bet out and this guy raises me. WTF I'm thinking, so I just call. He has rivered a gut shot straight (A-5)! This damn dealer got me again. I call them both out, telling the dealer that's twice he got me. He acts surprised and upset and asks me if I want to call the floor man over. The floor man is already standing close to the table and walks over. The dealer tells him that I was abusive to him and floor man gives me a warning. I quit the game and the Mirage poker room for a long time after that.

I'm not sure if you'd call these angles so much as outright cheating. This is kind of the extreme what can happen to you in a public cardroom.

Jay,

Pretty paranoid man, and yes, what you're accusing is obv cheating. You're one of those old angry bastards who believes bad luck= must have been cheated? In 2 major card rooms no less

You've got me pegged way wrong. I've done fairly well at poker and bear no ill will toward anyone. I just pointed out that "angles" may get played on you at any time and anywhere. And if you think there is never any cheating going on in major casinos/card rooms then you've been living in a cave.

The hand in question at the Mirage came down like this. I'm in middle position with A,5s and call. Two other people call including the guy next to the dealer. The flop comes A,7,5. There is a bet and I raise. The guy in the nine seat calls. The first better raises again and he gets two calls. The turn is a blank and he bets out again and I decide to raise once more. Nine seat calls and I get raised once more. Call, call. The River comes a 3 and the first guy bets and I call. The nine seat raises and I smell a rat. The first guy now folds and I call. He shows me 2,4! You tell me what you think just happened. The first guy needed to dump his hand so he wouldn't have to show it.

This is after there was another equally funny hand that came down just minutes before. I was the outsider in that game, as all the other players seemed familiar with each other. I usually like scenarios like that but this time it didn't work out so good for me. After letting them all know how I felt (I'm not shy) I packed my bags and headed out.

As for the situation at the Bike, the dealer in question was a known cheater, but I didn't find that out until later. A very prominent poker player who was working at the Bike at the time clued me in and just smiled after I told him what happened. He said, "They got you!"

You took a standard live limit beat. FYI the 20 year old meme here of move up to where they respect your raises is meant as a joke. Bad play at a live limit table whod've thunk it.
