Weed is an anxiety drug?? I guess it does not effect me that way at all, I chill out and don't worry about anything when I smoke. One of the best benefits of weed for me is that I don't react to Bad Beats near as bad as I use to... I just say "oh well, that's poker" and move on, I never could do that when I was using my prescriptions.

The only negative side effect is that I get lazy when I smoke and dont want to go out and party or play live poker near as often as I use to..

I quit weed awhile back because I was dealing with anxiety/panic attacks...I noticed that I would tilt way harder when I didn't smoke...I would have episodes if I lost like 5-6 $200-300 hu sngs I would immediately take shots at 1ks...had many sessions where i tilted 5k plus because of this...back smoking again now and my tilt is under control again...Note to self if you feel tilted rip the pipe with some anger and hold that hit in until you can't any longer...this should calm your tilt...

Budz FTW.
Anyone who says that their weed caused them to have a panic attack is either lying, talking about paranoia (VERY different from panic), or gets WAY too quality product for their own good/tolerance levels.

I'm gonna hate that day, but on the other hand it will allow me to reapproach the game I love without weed and see if I can play at the same level of concentration and focus.
that has to had a negative health effect and would have reduced your max concentration level dude. Woodstock huh!

This is ridiculous. Walking in the street can cause panic. So can taking a poop. ANYTHING can cause a panic attack, it depends on the state of mind of the patient, as well as their personal triggers for panic, which are almost always based in the subconscious memory. Marijuana may increase the likelihood of a panic trigger being triggered, but simply smoking weed while in the correct state of mind CANNOT cause a panic attack.

Seriously, I had to go to the ER back in November and when the Doctor asked about drug use I admitted to using Marijuana. I thought she was gonna have a heart attack. The bitch flipped the **** out on me.

Was at the doctor 2 weeks ago. She starts asking questions.........

Doc: Drink alcohol?
Me: No
Doc: Smoke Ciggies?
Me: No
Doc: Recreational Drug Use?
Me: Marijuana
Doc: Excellent

I've seen people get "panic episodes" while high, and the reason they did wasn't because of the weed. It was self-induced because the feeling was either new to them, or too much to handle. It also stopped after more experience. I find it hard to believe weed could cause you panic attacks after 7 years of use. And if so why didn't you stop at some point?

I used to smoke more weed than most people. I'd chain smoke joints all day (12-14hr days) while grinding 90 man SNGs. It relaxed me somewhat and allowed me to think deeply without trying real hard. I quit smoking because of unrelated medical issues (work related chemically caused damage to my lungs from a previous job).

After I quit it was hard for about a month to focus on poker, to read anything without my attention drifting, and to recall things I had learned while high. I also got off sugar and caffeine at this time, so that might of contributed to the problem.

After that month, I was fine. I can now recall everything I learned when I was previously high, can pay attention without drifting, and I am more relaxed than ever at the tables. I found some psychological techniques just as powerful (if not more) than weed in keeping me calm and thinking deeply.

I still love weed...and wish I could smoke it. At best I can take two very small hits and I'm stoned now, and anything more bothers my lungs...so I just avoid smoking mostly. I'm thinking of getting a vaporizer and trying that.

Just remember that the effects of your 'chemical-memory recall' or 'state-dependent memory', or whatever, isn't permanent. You just need to reroute the pathways to access those 'files' in your brain. All the benefits weed gives you naturally while high are behaviors you can learn without it. It just takes a boat-load more effort.

And LOL@weedisdangerous nonsense. People are so propagandized. My lung surgeon told me if he could have, he'd have prescribed me vaporized weed for pain instead of opiates and anti-inflammatories, as the opiates mess up your digestive system and anti-inflammatories cause kidney damage, while weed has almost ZERO side effects. He said weed is also infinitely more effective as a pain killer (as a side note, I gave my landlord weed once, who was on oxys for cancer, and he said it worked better on pain than the oxys, but he couldn't cope with being high). He also said there has NEVER been a credible case of lung damage (cancer or otherwise) caused directly from weed. He said in some studies, it shows weed smoking actually increases lung capacity due to deep breathing exercise used in inhalation, holding it in, and exhaling it. He also said every negative outcome study done has either been government funded (conflict of interest), done directly by governments, or done by anti-drug groups. He's one of the best lung surgeons in North America, works for one of the best hospital chains in the world, and flies back and forth between several countries regularly to do various cardiopulmonary operations. So, experts in the field do not agree that it's "harmful".

I started having panic attacks from smoking weed like 4 years ago.
They came out of no where, I used to smoke just about every day.
I will still smoke every once in a while now but i can only take 1 or 2 puffs of like lower grade weed or else i will freak out and start having problems breathing.
Its really weird and I havent found anyway to overcome it so far, Ive tried meditation and breathing exercises but nothing works.
I also know like 5-10 other people that the same thing happened to in there 20's

Yeah, happened to me in my twenties as well. I think it was a combination of potent weed and my inexperience. It felt like my heart was beating faster and faster and I ended up puking. Didn't smoke for a couple years after that happened.

Eventually I started back up again. I was a little paranoid at first, but the more I tried to relax and enjoy the moment the more the paranoia went away. And eventually completely vanished. It was like I had to "learn" how to smoke weed before I could truly enjoy it.

I just had shoulder surgery and I think it's ridiculous that doctors will prescribe umpteen refills of opiates that causes not to be able to crap for days at a time, ****s up my sleep, and makes me jittery, but a little weed would be much better.
