both did their homework getting to HU and both played decent HU poker.
both had their marginal folds/shoves but its kinda hard to play perfect in these situations. (TV, lots of money and the title at stake)

if stazsko wins the Q9s flip he is the ME champ, if he does not brainfart with the Q6s he has a good chance at winning as well.
overall the luckier won but it was not a luck-based win alá Jamie Gold.

Antonio Esfandari's analysis was wrong on almost every hand and every street. I can't stand him.

That seemed to be some of the weirdest heads up play ever. I mean both players seemed to be pretty card dead. Altho i think Stazko did get a nice run of cards. Stazkos heads up play seemed somewhat spewy. I was pretty impressed as i thought Hienz was going to walk over Stazko.

Anyone else think Stazkos 4 bet shove w AQo was bad? like i wouldn't mind someone to talk about the hand as i am totally baffled by it.(i would like to think i am a decent heads up player) I thought that would be the bottom of Stazkos range of calling there. Everything else beats Hienz. Anyone agree or disagree.

Hienz did have alot of heart when he had the chips. And i liked the fact that he changed gears quite well when his stack size changed.

Also thought Antonio Esfandari did an awsome job doing the commentary on the play.
are you sure there was such a hand?

I wont go so far as saying Stazko had a great run of cards, he had 8 3 like 50 times it seemed, plus most of his big hands only took the blinds for the most part

and yeah I gotta admit Esfandiari was rather decent as a commentator

Was not a blowup. Staszco had looked a the footage from Sunday, saw how he was getting plowed over by Lamb et al, thus is was reasonable to assume that he would be 3-betting light.

Also given it was the very first hand of the televised 3 player final table match, it was reasonable to assume Staszco wouldn't want to go bust on the first hand. Lots of metagame reasons why a shove with KJo from the BB is quite reasonable, and had fold equity.

By the way, the hoodie of Heinz is called "Green Zaggy" by Hugo Boss. You can buy it here for example:

I agree with Negreanu (from his tweets tonight) that both Stazsko and Heinz gave off plenty of tells that more experienced live players may have exploited. The quality of play in general was pretty good, but far from flawless.

+1, was thinking all the same. To elaborate on 1 of yer points, it may have been percieved by benba that given the FT history, that staszko was trying to send a message from the outset of 3 handed play (obv by 3 betting light). and yea should be tons of FE on HU bubble.

was talking about the Qc9c ???thought it was 9c gut shot flush draw hand where stazko 3 bet to 10 million and Hienz shpped w AQ. i might of also got somethings wrong as i was cooking some potatoes in the kitchen at that time as well.

heinz 3bet w/AQ,stazsko flatted with Q9cc,flop KsTc7c,heinz cbet little under half pot,stazsko min raised,heinz shipped.i think,it's bad in general but stazsko raise/folded flush draw earlier/live reads..etc.

So how many of us insulting the plays of these guys have made enough playing poker that we can comfortably enter a 10k buyin event?

I had a blast watching these guys go at it, and I feel that we have to give them at least some degree of leniency considering they are essentially playing for the poker super bowl, personally televised nationally for the first time. It can't be easy maintaining focus for that amount of time under such conditions.

Huge props to both players, and thanks for the entertainment.

Not even top 5 tbh. I can think of numerous collapses worse than Benbas. Hell, he wasn't even chip leader when he went downhill.

Stazsko made a critical error not calling all in with his FD and a big chip lead...other than that, they both played great.

it was fun to watch, but i'd still prefer railing a cash game with full tilt pros.

1. I think the best player won but its always very hard to say this little sample.

2. Best hands were kq vs j9 all in bluff on river and 98 check raise all in on river.

3. For poker i think it was by far best Piuz won

4. if they are going to continue with live broadcast i would think there is no more need for nov 9 just give players one day break before the final table and maybe play the final table like 10 hours maximum and continue day after.

how is a guy coming into the final table 5th~ and finishing 3rd a huge collapse? if this is considered a collapse then what was cheongs just last year? both of which i dont think are collapses at all... just standard high level poker being played.

LOL at people saying Lamb's ship with KJo was so bad.

1. These people have no idea of table dynamics etc
2. 4bet shipping KJo can be so unbelievably standard in some spots...nits gonna nit
