I realised the other day after another hour spent railing the big games on FTP that there are more and more big flip pots happening which look more like tournament hands than cash game hands. Its ironic how most cash game players mock tournament players for needing less skill, yet once you get to the metagame level you need to be willing to flip so often due to such wide hand ranges.

How long till we see shoves and calls with Jack high preflop in Hold'em and the equivalent in PLO due to people playing even wider? Makes you (or probably just me) wonder what the future holds for the biggest games.

There is no skill in poker.

When you rail the HS games, all you are seeing are the degenerates who have no problem shoving $150k into a pot with bottom pair or 10 high. These folks are the upper level of what I like to call "the luck scale". Think about it, there are always going to be those lucky miniscule few who lady luck is going to smile upon. There is no other explanation for Durrrr. Thousands and tens of thousands of people lose money at poker, and will continue to lose money forever. There are just a handful of people playing these high stakes games because they are at the extreme curve of "the luck scale". The smart ones will get out before lady luck catches up with them, but the BTs of the world will bust that role then have to come up with fake screen names because they're too embarrassed the luck ran out.

Think about, you never hear about that guy who took his chance and missed.

THIS IS FUNNY. you cant possibly be serious. if you are; i think there is no reason you should be playing poker. of course, they probably had a few breaks in their life. but, clearly, you have to acknowledge that some players are better than others, and after millions of hands they have millions of dollars to show for it.

LOL, you are obviously a losing player and unable to accept that there are people way better than you.

Thanks for the laugh.

If you don't think at least some of this is true, good luck when things go bad. When people fail, they always say they're unlucky. When people succeed, it's all about skill

Guess people who were able to turn themselves into millionaires or even billionaires within their lifetimes are just luckboxes too

Nope, they are all vastly more intelligent than us mere mortals.
02-03-2009 , 07:26 PM
I see I got my point across!

In a cash game, there are still more options prior to moving all in. Example 4bet shoves rather than 2bet shoves, preflop; and maybe 2bet shoves rather than 1bet shoves postflop.

Also, cash games being more "loose" than a tournament is not a bad thing. The fact that it can more accommodate more LAGgy play simply means that more options are available.

i actually agree to some degree with OP and then the guy who said some of the best known internet pro's are on amazing heaters.

success is a function of so many things. luck is definitely one of the bigger one. and tons of billionaires have (and more importantly many ARE going) gone bankrupt

If HS cash was like tourneys, then Victor Ramdin would be a rich rich man.
