Nope! (regarding getting blinded out) Blom finally got back - and is suddenly down to 7k. Maybe he shouldn't have come back, lol. If we manage to see him double up/bust/say anything interesting etc we'll let you know.

Blom Defused

Posted 8 minutes ago by danafish

We didn't see the hand, but we noticed the empty seat - Swedish sensation, and according to our own Gloria Balding "Prada model lookalike" Viktor Blom is no more for this tournament.

Viktor Blom had to leave the tournament after the following hand.

Blinds are at 150/300. Blom called UTG +1 and UTG +2 raise to 850 and four coldcallers before the tour comes to Blom. He goes all in for 9300 and UTG +2 calls. Player behind with 36k thinks about it and shoves all in, and its folded to the UTG +2 who thinks a while before he calls with TT! Board displays 3644 ..... T! And both Blom and the player with AA (=with 36k) may leave the tournament.

I f-ing LOVE this guy! He makes me think of myself. Obv not in terms of poker skills but personality wise.

Love how he just walked away and let the girl stand there with her microphone. I think the reason for him doing that is mixed between a little shyness and annoyance with the media. I really believe him not liking the media attention is not just because he wants to keep his online name secret but also because he just doesn't like giving interviews in the first place.

It is an issue! It's true that the swedish government has not gone on a head hunting journey to catch poker players who plays on a non EU site yet. But that day might come tomorrow. Or next week. I don't know.

And Lana_Long is not correct. In the swedish government point of view, poker is to be regarded as a lottery. And every hand you play, is to be regarded as a lottery of its own. You have to pay taxes on every hand you win. Oh, did I mention you have to pay taxes on rakeback too? Can it get more ******ed? Oh yes. Let me illustrate:

You sit down at Railheaven with $100k and open shove the first hand. You get called and lose. Reload $100k. All in again and this time you win. Instaquits. Even steven for the session right? Yes, but...

Q. How much do you owe in taxes?

A. $70k

Q. Wtf doooode? Why? I broke even.

A. The government dont give a rats ass about your net results. The lottery law complies. First hand you open shoved $100k, got called and lost the $200k pot. Too bad. The next hand goes down the same way, only this time you win the $200k pot. And even though you contributed $100k to the hand you won, you still gonna have to pay taxes on the complete pot. The tax rate on lottery events is 35 % (if i remember correctly) meaning you owe $70k in taxes from these two hands. GG

Isildur1 played what like 370k hands? So it's reasonable to say that he won somewhere around 185k hands? This is a rough estimate but the average pot he played should be worth in the neighbourhood of $5k. 185 000 x 5000 = 925 000 000. Lolz. Pretty redonculous. And I don't care what anyone says, if I owed any government in the world $925 000 000, I'd try to keep a low profile.

This is the only tax story you need LJ. I hope this will end the debate. If not check out what skatteverket has to say about. The text is pretty advanced so I'm not sure if google translate will do the trick. But it might.

Cheers

You clearly didn't read/understand the post.

1) This is what the swedish law has to say about poker and taxes (Read post again. If necessary, visit the link to skatteverket)

2) Skatteverket has not gone after poker players who plays on non EU sites from what I know of. Not yet, that is. (Read post again)
