I was in a 60 long line for the restroom outside the Amazon room when Teddy "Iceman" Monroe just strolled to the front and took the first available booth.

Someone shouted out "hey man! Can't you see there's a line here?"

Teddy looked at him and said "The Iceman doesn't wait in line"

************************************************** **

A guy I knew was playing craps when TJ joined his table. After losing about five hundred he turned to my friend and asked to borrow a couple of hundo "until next time I see you". A bit starstruck he gave him the money.

Two days later he saw TJ and asked for it back..

TJ said "If I thought you'd want repaying, I wouldn't have borrowed the money in the first place!"

************************************************** ***

Why can't all poker players be Alex Jacob?

I was on his table for the 5k short handed. He was involved in a pot late on day 1, when it went raise, rr, rrr and then a huge allin push back to Alex. He tanked for about 3 minutes then shrugged his shoulders and called with QQ. This was for just about the chip lead in the tournie. The other guy had AK and Alex had made a great call (I was sure the guy had AA, that's why Alex wins tournaments and I don't lol) and then proceeded to win the race.

Alex version of excessive celebration after winning the pot? He yawned and arched his eyebrows a bit.

Alex Jacob is the nuts. Chilled out, intelligent and congenial to play poker with. I wish Chad Batista would learn some lessons from him.

************************************************** ***

It seems like all the Hachem family are whiney bastards.

Tony Hachem was on the table behind me in one event when he busted out

"I had AK four times and missed every ****ing time, yet when I go up against AK with 88 it comes an ace Ace AND a ****ing king. God I'm so ****ing unlucky"

And it seems he is being sponsored by Pokerstars.

Why?

If I win the main event and pokerstars offer me a deal can I get my cat a deal too? as none of my brothers play poker.

************************************************** ***

With just the main event to go, with some random certain to win the score between good, decent human beings and annoying egoists is surprisingly close:

Bracelets for the good guys: EDog, Selbst, Greenstein, Hollink, Benyamine, Kitai, JC Tran and Smyth.

Irritants: Singer, Matusow, Negreanu and Kenny Tran.

Thank god Bellande and Mueller didn't win their bracelets.

************************************************** ***

Saw Phil Hellmuth trying to dodge past a security guard today in attempt to walk the direct route to the Amazon room, rather than mingle with the unwashed masses in the lifestyle show.

He was stopped and told to walk the way every one else does.

"Don't you know who I am? I'm Phil Hellmuth"

"It doesn't matter who you are, you have to walk that way"

Unfortunately just as Phil was about to lose it, another security guard came over and let Phil go his way.

Shame.

************************************************** ***

Eugene Todd is an arse.

I wish he would jsut shut up and play rather than shouting like a goon at the cards every time he played a big pot.

If I had heard him shout "One time!" one more time, I think my head would have exploded.

That's all I've got.

Camel the only thing lacking from your observations is the fact you are probably broke and struggling to get by.

Good Luck

Good question. Why do you think no one did this?

I was actually walking out when I heard this. Actually, it was someone else who said incredulously "don't you know who that is?" The security said no. Random person said "that's Phil Hellmuth!" I glanced over in time to see Phil sort of smile (in appreciation?) and start walking towards Amazon room. It wasn't Phil himself who declared who he was.

Iceman and Cloutier stories seem fanciful. Irregardless, a fun read.

Fun post. Random semi related Hellmuth story:

Exiting the expo today Hellmuth practically ran me over walking in the same direction, apparently in some kind of hurry as he rushed out of the room. He did not stop to apologize or pardon himself.

Hellmuth getting his face on a Milwaukee's Best beer can...that's a beat IMO. In this neck of the woods...that's barely priced above the drug store cost of rubbing alcohol.

I'd love to see a Hellmuth vs. Iceman putdown contest! I'd pay 19.95 for it.

Coors Light, Bud, Molson Ice, or Red Stripe (if I can find it). Some microbrews in some places too.

3/4 here. I don't find Danny at all irritating, but rather simply entertaining -- in part because he occasionally likes to poke the nits.
