It takes a special person to make Mike look good by comparison. Congrats Venessa on doing a good deed with your virtue-signalling by reminding us of your character and personality and how Mike could be worse -- he could be you.

Matusow's point has been said by countless people that know basically know nothing about the movie industry. It is also mentioned by people that are working in the industry. So, it's not his opinion, it's just him repeating what he heard, as crass at is.

Hollywood is absolutely, without question, a tough place to get a starring job in any movie. So every thing, no matter how disgusting and rapey the owners of companies can be, has helped some actors and actresses get jobs. This is not my opinion, I have no idea, it's just something I have heard. It could be wrong. Just like Matusow could be wrong.

I feel a deep sorrow that this ever occurs. It's so indefensible, people in power doing this is downright appalling and should be prosecuted. We need to get rid of that law that says crimes can only be punished for the last 15 years or whatever, it's such bull****.

I hope my post doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. That is not my aim at all. As I mentioned, I feel a deep sorrow for anyone involved and hope that any victim can receive some form of counseling and medicine that makes them feel better, as difficult as it might be. This has ruined some peoples lives.

All he needed was a little bit of compassion and empathy for the people he met or worked with. It makes me so sad and very depressed to the point of tears.

While Mike has said many "questionable" things on Twitter as of late this seems like a major overreaction from Selbst. I guess this was just the straw that broke the camel's back for her... but Mike wasn't even condoning it. What Mike said has been said countless times by others.

I could sort of see that, right up to the #hypocrtites hash tag. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding/misinterpreting, but I read that as him calling people hypocrites for knowing about the issue yet calling out Harvey Weinstein - as if knowing means you can't criticize him. Plus, if you take the Tweet literally (LOL, I know), the implication is that everyone who has made it in Hollywood had to do sexual favors.

But I agree that "disgusting, delusional, and downright pathetic human being" is a major overreaction, at least based on that Tweet alone.

Mike takes top honors for disgusting and pathetic but I've gotta give vanessa the nod for delusional.

Selbst has legal training remember. It's pretty incredible this has gone on as long as it has without criminal charges. Weinstein's looking at 30 years if the evidence comes together - while will be difficult.

I don't think her primarily motivation was virtue signaling (not to say that she doesn't do that). She seemed more interested in making Mike feel worse than making herself look better.

She definitely ended up looking worse here. I agree with her that Mike said something fairly tactless, but it certainly didn't warrant that kind of a response.

imo an interesting character with a good moral compass in a sea of an industry full with degens, scammers and clueless wannabes.

To be fair I used to be a matusow fan but something in his brain is clearly broken (not because of this tweet just in general) and he's a shell of the man he was a decade ago. It's actually quite sad.

Matusow trying to tweet his way into presidency

Vanessa isn't new to Twitter, neither is she new to confrontation so getting so irate about someone tweeting something like that shouldn't really surprise her.

It's Twitter, you'd be hard pressed to go 20/30 tweets in your timeline of even following people you think you have interests in common with and not see something or an opinion you weren't "disgusted" with.

Mikes gonna Mike - there's literally hundreds of thousands of people out there of his demographic who have identical opinions. Can't believe someone of her intelligence is so surprised.

I guess she's not surprised, she's just "doing the right thing" and standing up for people.
