Games are great and plentiful live. Overall it's on the decline since the boom, but it's not going to die overnight. There are many many years left.

Yup live is still great and especially underground games. Gambling will never go away.

For those that think poker is dead, maybe you can call the media and have a mock funeral along the Vegas strip with a little casket filled with a deck of cards and poker chips. End the procession in front of the Venetian.

Lol poker was around a long time before the boom and holdem, and will be around forever.

Of course it will.

But the term dead is relative. Although it will always be around, it may be at a completely different level.

Most people dont want to be going to dodgey locations just to player. Its the online aspect that changed poker.

Eh you could call it dead online as far as unlicensed online poker, as far as licensed US based online poker it's in it's infancy and will take some time for it to gain momentum as states start to join together. It's not unlike legalized weed, slowly but surely states are hopping onboard.

There's 3 states that I know of that have regulated online poker and more are trying to get there as well as states trying to mix player pools.

No, not at all. If you were a player pre "boom" you would see that poker is much larger and healthier than before. Online is much diminished of course for silly legal reasons, but LIVE Casinos, Underground Rooms, Charity and home games still thrive. Live poker has just found its level and is far from dead IMHO.

There are a lot of little babies that came up during the boom. they think they are entitled to a certain type of poker game that fits their schedule, bankroll and skill set. these children whine and complain when they dont get their way.

Those of us that came up before the boom never counted on being able to retire playing any certain poker game. Those of that survived are advantage players. We find an edge in table games, sports, poker whathaveyou. We realize they are all just vehicles to relieve a gambler of his "fun" money. Its an IQ thing.

Yes, virginia, your little slice of poker may be dead. If that distresses you for a moment you were never cut out for this life to begin with.

Online Poker was critically wounded in the USA - but not killed.

You can still play (and get paid) on WPN & Bovada, as well as the regulated states......so it never died.

-It should also make a slow (perhaps painfully slow) comeback

-Will never be the Wild West days of PokerStars/FTP/UB

Live Poker Still going strong.

Poker Sites need to find a way to get the kids coming out of college (2016 +) interested in the game, the way the original Poker Boom kids were. That's where most of the Poker Boom came from. Thats why the #'s for live play are still strong.

Those players are not going anywhere any time soon.

Need to spark the Poker Boom 2.0 within the next five years or so.

Need to market poker as an i-game / e-game

NOT A SPORT

Forget "Sportifying" Poker. It's a game. A SKILL game. Keep it pure. Forget playing "standing up" "in a cube". Get back to basics. No reason, with a safe/regulated place to play, that a PokerBoom 2.0 can't happen !!

The simple answer is no.

Online poker is not what it once was but is not dead by any means. Live poker is certainly not dead.

Poker will die when planet earth does.

i still see a lot of interest in the game. when i semi-frequent a local 1/2 live game, im still seeing straddles, sometimes double and triple straddles upward of $100.

in these games i still see horrendous play, notably preflop in PLO where people are going to play any 4 to any bet size, often times.

sit and crush(sng leaderboard) on WPN exceeded 26k total this past week.

it's not dead, definitely not dead. one poster recently was talking about "new" rooms that boom. it seems this is the case as i have experienced as well. In Ohio, casinos just came around within the last few years, most likely to new law allowing them, these poker rooms are filled with fish.

Is it too mush too ask to play against uber bankrolled fish that will put in 700 bb's with 2nd pair? I mean all I want is to play one variant of poker, preferably after 3 pm, and be handed 18 buy ins in a half hour by a business tycoon who runs a billion dollar company but is too stupid to catch on to simple GTO principles, just have him gladly hand over mountains of chips whilst congratulating me on my superior techniques, and marveling at my trickery. Is it too much trouble for the universe to give me millions because I'm in the 99th IQ percentile, along with 3.2 million others in the US alone?

In a closed circuit system with rake, the net outcome is always zero. Ice cubes slowly melting as they are pushed back and forth across the table from one reg to another, all the while the casino quietly sponging up the precious liquid that soaks into the felt.

All the whiners should go make some money and bring it back to the tables with them imo.

Played live yesterday at a card club for the first time in about 6 months and the play was actually worse than I thought it would be. There was zero thought into decisions or bet sizing from every player. There is certainly potential for a post BF online boom if you can get these regulated sites in Cali.

The next boom will happen when online poker is legalized in America.

Until then, stick to live games or just play on the side for a little fun.
