Cliffs:

On the Poker Brat: "Phil Hellmuth think he's a superstar player, the best player in the world, and he thinks he's a great cash game player at the same time. He just thinks he's unlucky, everyone else plays bad around him, and he's a genius."

On his televised altercation with Ralph Perry: "I think I made Ralph famous - Ralph never made himself famous with his game or his performance after. He should have left the table much quicker than he did, hanging around there was terrible. I don't know what he was hanging around for, he just played the hand horribly and it was in the final. He should have just got on his bike and left. Quickly."

On his own strengths at the table: "I can read the game pretty well. I think I can lay down some hands that other players couldn't who are technically better than me. I don't really study the game technically like everyone else to be perfect - a German robot."

On the highest cash game he's ever played: "It's difficult to say because sometimes the games increase. If they start in Russia, for example, at $1K/$2K PLO, they could slip up to $5K/$10K and maybe even $10K/$20K for a few hands - US Dollars. They can get big; we also had a rule of unlimited straddles. I remember one guy would always do a $100K Straddle, even if we were playing $1K/$2K."

On the future of the online poker market: "Unless the US opens, I think online poker will struggle from here. If the US opens, it can get massive."

On if he'll ever quit: "I would probably only quit for health reasons... or if I owe someone a lot of money and I don't want to show my face."

On top of that, he spoke about playing heads-up with technically sound players including Erik Lindgren and PokerStrategy.com CEO Dominik 'Korn' Kofert, his numerous business ventures including TonyResort and Gimahhot, what makes someone one of the best players in the world, what he thinks about Full Tilt's management and future, the impact of dealt vs. contributed rake, and tons more about the business of poker.

I'm taking it hes insinuation when the US or if the US Market opens up then we/USA would be able to play against players world wide. Not sure how that would work considering we pay roughly 37% taxes and say Aussies are tax free.

Why the hell wouldn't I just dump my roll to a "mate" in Australia every time I wanted to cash out?

Meh. I was going to post about the content and how most of it seems pretty uninformed/arrogant/overstated, but then I realized that since I clicked on a thread with "TonyG" in the title, I kinda got what I deserved.

I'm not sure what TonyG is talking about. If it's the poker market, as in affiliates, media etc., yes they'll struggle. But if we're talking about online poker itself. I don't see it. Check out pokerscout. Pokerstars is doing very well.

With the world poker market breaking down to smaller pieces, legalized poker in the US - the richest market and where poker was born and played more than anywhere else - would provide liquidity for what remains for the rest of the world.

I struggle to believe he has played $10k/$20k games, let alone $1k/$2k. Especially since in April of this year he claimed a £63,000 pot was "the biggest pot of my life". Either he was playing those games with a <25bb stack, never won a pot great than 50bb, has taken a massive jump in stakes since April, or is lying. I call bull****.

Seems like an idiotic thing to do if it is true regardless, for obvious bankroll reasons.

A 10k/20k PLO would play so big, the swings would kill anybody. I have never heard of a PLO game bigger than 2k/4k?

i remember the 63k euro "biggest pot of my life" but I really think he was just exaggerating and playing it up for the television when he said that there. He's talked about all these big Russian games and stuff and he owns pokernews so surely the G has played much higher.

No, he said it was the biggest pot of his life in terms of big blinds. Pretty sure the £63000 pot was played on £25/£50 = 1260 big blinds.

I don't remember him saying that. All I remember him saying, and what it says on his blog, he said was that was the biggest pot of his life, which does not at all suggest he was talking about big blinds.

I still call bull****.

No major disagreement with his opinions, which he is perfectly entitled to hold.
But online poker might not be struggling as badly as some pessimists seem to think.
Pokerstars had more than 400,000 players online on Sunday and that was with the US locked out.
Meanwhile, 888 Poker won the award for Best Poker Operator of the year while reportedly having an increase of 122% in liquidity of active players over the year. http://www.pokerlistings.com/888poke...the-year-76682

Smaller sites are struggling - and are making some questionable decisions regarding rake - but I think we should be optimistic about the US opening up with a decent amount of competition between rivals in the marketplace.
