I'm going to assume that your statement was a level. He displays no self confidence in that video when talking about winning. Besides, Dwan has never really been a MTT monster, he's all about the cash games. If memory serves, he has a horrible WSOP history. There's no reason to believe that he's going to crush the Manila field however soft (or not) it may be.

it was part level, part hope. apart from the near miss and sweat he gave with the bracelet bets a few years ago, it's obvious to anyone in the know he hasn't done much since.

Some holes are just too deep . . . My guess is that money/makeup is only one of a list of problems he'd have to address in his life.

He also lost his sponsorship/appearance fees money. Read more about it here:

http://www.subjectpoker.com/2011/07/...e/#Iveys_Loans

The attorney fees in the casino cases are minuscule to what financial setbacks he had with the money he "won" that now had to be refunded from other pit, cash game, SPORTS GAMBLING (e.g. 2M on Lakers vs Celtics) and his association with Paul Phua, or other business adventures.

Basically when FTP's books were opened it gave us insight into Ivey's need to borrow money and just how much financial distress he was under
It's funny to watch guys like you state facts as if you think you know what you are talking about. You do realize the guy won over 19mill playing on tilt, not to mention the millions he was paid every year for being the face of the company??? I'm not saying the guy hasn't lost lots in gambling, but he's also won lots. I remember someone saying to Daniel Negraneau that Ivey was broke and he looked at them like they were idiots and laughed them off. Also, just because he had outstanding loans to Tilt doesn't mean he was broke. Moving large sums of money onto Tilt at a moments notice isn't always easy. Hell, he might have had a line of credit to draw upon when needed to play big games. Tilt was obviously loanong out money to lots of guy when they needed it.

Your ignorance proceeds you. I didn't say he was broke, but that ONE POINT IN TIME he was under financial distress and he seems currently entrapped into staying in Asia to play the big games

When Tilt was in full swing towards the end he was netting over 900k/mo according to his divorce proceedings and the loss has obviously affected his lifestyle since. You also forget that most of those tourney winnings are only 60% since it goes towards short term capital gains with the IRS, he's entered the one drop twice for -2M, and approximately 35-40% of has come from super high rollers after Tilt went under.

And oh yeah, he pumped at least "mid 7 figs" into his failed Ivey League venture.

Steve has 177k, Tom just took him down for like 30k. Tom won last 4 hands up above 300k now. Made some good aggressive moves. Steve just lost big pot to Peng Deng.

Tom seems to be quite comfortable eating in between hands of a 200k buy in event. Who knows his financial situation with poker, backers, make up, etc.

Glad to see he's rested for this one and smiling while in conversation with other players at the table.
