I would be surprised if this sale does not violate the WSOP terms of the award. I haven't seen the papers winners have to sign, but selling a WSOP signature item without license might not be kosher.

He figured if he sold in a small town like Plano no one would here about it....lol

They have it priced just at it's melt value, not a bad deal.

I'm sorry but the first part of your post is comical along with some other posts ITT talking about plano being a random podunk texas town. "small town" that is the 70th largest city in the U.S. ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plano,_Texas

It has been ranked among the cities with the highest quality of life by CNN and as the wealthiest city in the U.S. by the US Census Bureau.

(2005, Plano was designated the best place to live in the Western United States by CNN Money magazine. In 2006, Plano was selected as the 11th best place to live in the United States by CNN Money magazine.[4] Plano schools consistently score among the highest in the nation. It has been rated as the wealthiest city in the United States by CNN Money[5] with a poverty rate of less than 6.4%. In 2008, Forbes.com selected Plano, University Park, and Highland Park as the three "Top Suburbs To Live Well" of Dallas.[6] The United States Census Bureau declared Plano the wealthiest city of 2008 by comparing the median household income for all U.S. cities whose populations were greater than 250,000.[7])

Sorry to threadjack for a second but plano, although not nearly as large as the metroplex that encompasses it, is anything but a small town that no one has heard of.

I have seen many things far more degen then this but maybe i've just been around a bit longer, that said it's still registers up there on the degen meter

If I was balla and he really did sell it because he needed the cash, I would buy it for him and pass it on to his family when he dies.

I don't think it's sad or even odd in anyway that someone would be willing to sell a wsop bracelet. If I were to play, luckbox, run good, win 15 flips, and play well enough to win a large field live donkament, selling the bracelet to someone willing to buy the thing is way +EV. Like, it's not even close.

The bracelet is just a trophy for winning a tourney. I mean, few people actually wear them. Think about when you're at a table with someone wearing their wsop bracelet or wsop circuit event ring, now think about how this effects your perception of the person wearing the trophy. it's pretty douchy

Have you considered that, maybe, TJ is at a stage in his life where he realizes that poker bracelets are not worth nearly as much, as trophies, as the money that can be obtained from selling them?

Possibly, he's taking inventory and he doesn't need to maintain an award shrine like some vain poker players might have.

Not long ago, I took about 150 trophies (some two to three feet tall) and silver plated cups that I had won over an eighteen year period to the dump because I didn't need them to remind me of my past victories. If I had thought that they were of value to someone who could have reused them, I would have sold them.

This is really sad considering he probably sold these for 1k or less to the pawn shop.

Why would anyone want to buy TJ's bracelet? Look how cool I am, I have someone else's bracelet. Doesn't make sense imo unless you're a complete d-bag loser.
