Texas finally has poker. (2015) Texas finally has poker. (2015)

El Paso is a ****hole but it is the best place if you like hiring hookers, it is the cheapest in the USA, i remember hiring two very good looking hookers, wow they are hot as hell, best $600 i spent(300 each, basically a three some), the next morning they were kind enough to eat brunch with me.

Austin is a college town, so a lot of broke college students will not mind hooking up with a loaded poker player, i will be there.

Didnt think I'd ever see something like this in TX.

Good luck to organizers. Hope they are successful.

In before overzealous mods close or move this thread!

These places have been running now for more than 4 years in some cases and mods still are trying to banish us from talking about them. The other thread with information about these Texas card rooms was banished to Home Poker where 3 people see it a day LOL.

There needs needs to be a thread at least in the Brick & Mortar section with information on these places. Poker in Texas is booming right now, but many players don't know because for some reason the mods on a poker forum don't want it to be talked about. OK, end of rant.

No. People come up with cute loopholes like this all the time, and sometimes even get away with it for a few years, but it's only a matter of time before it gets shut down.

I'm originally from Texas, and wish this wasn't the case. But wanting something to be legal doesn't make it so.

Seems a bit confrontational? Does "banished" = "placed in the appropriate forum" ??

Regardless, I'm happy to read the news about the upcoming WPT Deepstacks stop in Houston. I spent WAY too much of my time in my late teens playing 9-ball at Cornbread's. Best of luck.

I can only speak for myself but I am pretty sure that I have never closed or moved a previous NVG thread about poker in Texas and have no desire to start now. (In fact I am pro discussing poker in Texas.)

And I am pretty confident that 2+2 mods didn't/don't have nefarious reasons for closing or moving such a thread either now or in the past.

One of the challenges in maintaining and fostering a vibrant discussion forum as large as 2+2 is to have threads located in their proper forum.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, NVG is not really supposed to be a dumping ground for every poker thread imaginable. And placing a thread in NVG in order for as many people as possible to view it is not sufficient reason for the thread to be in NVG.

The culprits are:

Rapini has closed a bunch (a couple examples below ):

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...ht=texas+poker

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...ht=texas+poker

Bobo Fett moved the one from NVG which had some great discussionwhere it was then closed:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...ht=texas+poker

The one now is getting more traffic/response than any other thread in Home Poker even thought it is totally misplaced and many people that might be interested have no idea it is there

How are the games?

How dangerous is it to carry cash in and out of those rooms?

Security is pretty solid at Post Oak, a little less so at other locations, I would be on high alert because it is Houston and a big city, so something could happen but not that likely. You can ask security to walk with you as well.

Post Oak runs $1/$3 NLHE pretty much from open to close, max 8-9 tables on weekends, AVG stack $300-$400 peak times, can be larger, Holdem action is great

$5/$5 PLO is generally running at peak times, this game plays pretty big, $10 straddle and 5X raise preflop 80% of the time. A game that is so swingy and action, anyone with skills and proper roll would be licking their lips.

Rare $5/$10 or larger PLO (those games are usually at either Lions or Prime)

While I understand the frustration, some of that is kind of silly.

So, here's the problem. The one place the discussion doesn't belong is here. Where it would normally belong is C&CP (formerly Brick & Mortar), but the comfort level with having the quasi-legal/illegal/gray area Texas thread amongst all the legal ones wasn't there. While of course Texas poker rooms aren't at someone's house, it's a forum where there is discussion of games one would label as "gray area", so that was considered the next best fit.

It's really not an issue of anyone not wanting the topic discussed, but a difference of opinions on where it should be permitted.

That said, I've brought this up for discussion in the Mod Forum again to see if there's a better solution. And if NVG mods are OK with this thread being here for the time being, I don't have an issue with it - but I wouldn't expect it to be here permanently.
