From his posts here, Taylor seems a nice guy. Although famous for his games against Mahatma back in the day, now he is honest enough to know he doesn't have the bankroll or the skill needed to always play the highest limits. So you will rarely if ever see him on a table with Durr/Sbrugby/Antonius/ Benyamine. Good for him if he can exhibit sound game selection, not need to take an ego trip, avoid going busto and make a good living for himself.
v well put

I think if Taylor played more and dedicated himself to it he could definitely beat 200/400 NL, maybe not be the best player but one of the top few

I have the same impression that he is more into other things in his life than playing poker.

Seems like there's a ton of pro's now who don't have avatars. They should hire those guys you find at the beach, they can knock portraits out in minutes.

> tay raises to $700

> Paul Wasicka raises to $2,100

The initial mistake, in my opinion. Wasicka is in the big blind, and even though tay open-raised from the button (the classic steal position), I'd just flat call with KJo (could possibly be superior to the button's range of hands, on average, but it's hardly the hand you want to go to war with.)

Raising here is going to build a big pot, while out of position, against a tough player, and you are really drawing to just a pair. And how good are you going to feel when you hit a pair on the flop and still get action?

To me, this is not a spot I want to be in...having a pair, out of position, bit pot, tough opponent, etc. Instead, Wasicka should have kept the pot small, unless he really hit the board hard (in which case he can *then* start to build a big pot.)

Taylor always said he does not wanna play poker for living.

I remmeber aobut 1.5 years ago, he and Prahlad were playing 50/100 HU on UB, and Taylor said to prahlad how pathatic he was, and how he would never want to waste his life playing sitting in front of a PC all day, playing cards. Prhalad replied with his pattented "never talk to me again. Chat off".

(they would always insult each other b/c prahlad would lose, say "wow, you suck", and then more arguments, etc...)

This is why Taylor can't be the best at 200-400 and 300-600. To be the best there, you need to dedicate your life to it basically. (unless your PA)

I think, this is accurate, I play uNL so tifwiw

Some thought PA became the best without even trying.

They were DEAD WRONG.

Yeah just check out all the wild stuff he blogs about. No way he could fit poker playing into his busy schedule...

i'm sure you're being sarcastic and you think he's some high stakes god, but i was being completely serious. i wouldn't play him HU for rolls, but that doesn't mean he's got some kind of big advantage on me... when i asked if he was good, i really meant what i said.

Why do the good HSNL players make these kind of comments without actually suggesting a better line? I would be interested in hearing those thoughts, even if it's just a one sentence better way to play it, and preferably a slight justification.

I realize THK gave a suggestion, which basically involves giving up against any resistance on more than one street post flop. That seems reasonable with big stacks and being OOP with a mediocre hand. I'm assuming Taylor isn't so tight that he can't call a preflop reraise on the button and float the flop bet with worse than top pair though. Then again if you play a big pot with him on the turn here then he'll have KJ beat.
