In this article, they got some pros reactions to the tourney. Most were good because it's for charity and blah blah, but Vanessa Selbst and Liv Boeree seem to be against it. Selbst because "it destroys the sanctity of the bracelet" and "messes up the stats" and Boeree because "you don’t have to be that good to win" and whomever does win will be one of the top money winners of all time just from 1 small field tourney.

LOL, wut?

well, to follow the "you don't have to be that good to win" point, you could say the same about the main event...

Sounds like some bitter players that don't have a big enough roll to play in the biggest tournaments in the world.

I am sure Vanessa Selbst could get backingand not because anyone want to get close to her.

Kind of ridiculous about buying a bracelet. Wasn't that true when the WSOP started. Lots of good players don't want to put down the money for all the entries and a lot of top pros only play high buyin events. Chan, Brunson, and Seidel won there bracelets mostly in high buyin. It isn't like baseball stats or something.

Selbst and Boeree should realize that it's not this tournament that messes up the "stats." It's the fact that the stat of all-time money list is ******ed in the first place. Tom Dwan got $300,000 in tournament winnings for winning a 6 player invite-only sit&go and they think this is what's going to ruin the stats? The fact that Jamie Gold sat atop the leader board for years is proof enough that the stat is meaningless..

I do think she has a point about being able to win a bracelet for winning a 3 table "sit-n-go"

Who cares about the all time money list or the sanctity of bracelets. The all time money list is ******ed because it doesn't subtract buyins and already includes all the huge buyin events already and the sanctity of bracelets was lost a long time ago when the WSOP became a circus.

I'd say the idea of a $1 million buy-in is beyond dumb but a friend of mine who isn't really into poker asked me if heard about the new WSOP tournament next year with the $1 million buy-in. Anything that gets the average Joe to hear, think, and talk about poker is good in my books (especially since he said I should definitely play cause the field will just be a bunch of weak rich businessmen... oh and that Ivey guy).

The event seems good for the game and I don't think it rains too hard on tradition, a lot of bracelets from long ago were won in small fields and the leaderboards aren't very set anywhere near "best" for measuring skill.

Events like this, high stakes poker tv shows, the nbc heads up, it's all really good for the game. You might get more outliers or easy leaderboard ranking winners, but it draws more interest into the game and growing the game is good for every pro.

Vanessa Selbst, Team PokerStars Pro

"I think it is ridiculous it completely destroys the sanctity of the bracelets. It completely ruins the idea of poker stats. Everything has gotten out of hand already."
She makes it tooo easy.
"For a political analogy it is kind of what America is doing. It completely eliminates the middle class."
I mean she's already got 3 or 4 juicy targets hanging around her neck but then she goes and opens her mouth and gives you more. The gift that keeps on giving.

This....Lol made me laugh my a%$ off. She's such a joke.

Poker was never about, and should never be about trophies, stats, or leader-boards.

It's about money.

Yes because in todays economic and post black friday poker enviroment where everybody is hurting, what really need is an ultra rich and somewhat douchey tournament. Not regulation, or any form of justice for us working stiffs.

How out of touch can you be to think that this is the time to come out with something like this tourney?
