they could make some special tables with cameras, like on 888

it would be a "earn extra 3bb/100 in exchange for watching 5 old, fat guys masturbating" kind of deal

They should just work on countermeasures like somehow making a bot think it has been dealt AA when a human looking at the actual table sees 72o

I don't particularly want to give a picture of myself and a license to use it however they want to anyone willing to register a name with a casino.

EDIT:

If a Brick and Mortar casino started taking my picture and using it, I would be pretty pissed, though I recognize that I probably signed away that right in their standard room contract. But they don't use it. I assume it is only there in case I am famous. And I am not. If I were, I would argue it.

Pokerstars already has measures to reduce bandwidth requirements of its clients. Adding video streaming for every player would exponentially increase those needs.

We all saw how well a rake increase went over, so who is going to pay for he extra costs to support your suggestion?

And to make it different from other tables, they should make those tables count as 4 or 8 regular tables, or some other alternative that would make it possible to only play 2 or maybe 4 of those webcam tables and not have any other table running at the same time.

Webcam games would be soft, but wouldn't be ruined by mass tablers.

Sounds terrible. Let us do it. Uh, how do I fo that now? Seriously ... I have no idea how to send you a live video of myself and, I am very excited that the rule is I have to dop that now. How do I do it? wILL IT TAKE M MORE THAN 22 SECONDS?

oh, **** ... I'm mesing up thje caps lock key.

Never mind.

Good point. Even though obviously you would have the option to disable other people feeds, Stars would still have to provide it for what would probably be the vast majority of players using it, every railer, play money and free role player, etc.
But even if this was implemented today, it would take years to actually end up being mandatory, by then bandwidth will be much less of a problem.
4k movies + Netflix + low orbit sat net will do the trick. Ever the optimist.

Anyhow what I think everyone is forgetting is what is essentially a guaranteed mandatory internet passport for anything you register online in a matter of years. And it looks like NSAbook, ehm, Facebook is going to bi it.
Id actually prefer video feed, to my account being linked to facebook if that was an option.

I had no idea that every country (or in fact, any country) had agreed to such a thing, or were even remotely close to doing so. Link(s)?

If it's essentially guaranteed that a mandatory Internet passport will be in place, what does your preference for a video feed matter?

You luv this don't you Bobo

Kinda felt like giving you more to feed on , but it would just derail the thread further and its obvious most regulars are not interested in showing their ugly mugs so no point going any further with it.

Now if you really want to know something about internet passport and why Facebook was created and encouraged as much as it was, you only need to check myriad of quite reputable sites from Ars to Anand, Wired to Vox, etc.

No one will say the legislation is in the making per se, but Estonia is definitely a test case and closely observed by the rest of the world. Since its part of EU and being EU citizen myself ,I will probably get the experience before you, but considering the government you guys have, I am sure you will follow soon

Preemption for where is needed and might be able to stall on facebook linkage if implemented. Just building my already lost case.

I think it would be fun if they had tables where you had to show your face. Whether people would try them out or not that is the question.

You may need to incentivize it.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean - I'm not just here to troll you or take some pleasure from derailing your thread, although I fail to see how any of this is a derail.

I actually am interested, which is why I Googled "mandatory Internet passport" before posting. Nothing in the first page of results jumped out at me, so I thought I'd ask you for more info.

It seems like you're trying to have it both ways with this. Earlier, you said that the video wouldn't have to reveal your identity - you could wear sunglasses, disguises, etc. Now you're suggesting it could stall some kind of movement for an Internet passport. The two don't seem to match up to well to me.

some posters already made solid arguments, why this isn't a good idea. as far as i can tell, most 'recreational' players are even upset, that they have to scan their passport or provide any kind of bill to verify their identity. if you force them to video stream, i'm pretty sure there would be a huge drop in traffic and the sign-ups will go down as well.

another negative effect would be the chat behavior. now ppl would be judged b/c of their looks and so on. the whole idea of online poker is (partially) the anonymity.

but okay, let's assume your '1984-like' observation would be a thing. let's assume i've a good bot and want to make money. so i just sit in front of my computer and do stuff ... i could surf the internet, play a game or whatever ... as long as the stupid camera just records my face. so what's your next step big brother ... forcing players to put up a camera in their rooms?

your idea is bad on so many levels and the worst thing is, that botters still could make a living. the top online rooms have far better detecting measurements, than the 'check if someone sits in front of the computer' thing. so you basically force away a lot of players, who like the anonymity, but therefore get a few botters (maybe), who are stupid enough, to put no one in front of the camera.

I can't spake.

Are you honestly suggesting it should be MANDATORY to be filmed and broadcast to other players the whole time you play on stars OP? Genuinely not heard anything this dumb in quite a while.

Welcome back to NVG.

Online poker is and always will be about sitting in our underwear in darkened rooms living off of hot pockets and pissing in bottles. Don't take this away from us OP!
