As odd as it sounds, statistically, very intelligent people have a harder time quitting an addiction than others. And they usually have more money to develope an addiction.

I found the one dope stories podcast I listened to quite boring. Just seemed to me like two navel-gazing writers admiring their habits with a lack of humor or anecdotes that would make it interesting.

I was going to ask if anyone would blink an eye if he said he has used a decent amount of cocaine over the last fifteen years but there was less of reaction than I expected in the thread.

For some reason someone smoking crack just seems so shocking, at least in my peer group anyways. I guess the 80's scare tactics and socioeconomic bias between what is deemed "acceptable" and "would never even think about trying once" worked on me.

Maybe not that long but they were using cocaine prior to that among other drugs, and then crack when it became really popular in the LA club scene. All i know is it has ruined what once was. It's a very very damning drug. I have seen what it does and it is absolutely terrifying.

Fwiw I personally know people who smoke crack immoderately and it is an ugly picture on rotted canvas.

But this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Hart has done serious research and his conclusions differ substantially from the typical Nancy Reagan "OMGcrack RUN FOR YOUR LIFE" school of thought, which is what may be expected a priori from a drug perhaps less addictive than alcohol.

all the guys itt who think crack isnt that bad, should give it a good try(dont smoke it just once, go hardcorde for a month or two), report back in a few months with progress, +EV of crack use in life etc.
