Wasn't Scotty banned from drinking alcohol at the Heads Up Challenge? I think it was commented on as he was observed drinking an O'Douls.

Personally, his drunkeness is semi entertaining but he probably shouldn't dig thru the muck. Maybe because the TOC is a freeroll, and Matasow was the victim, he thinks it's ok.

this is not the issue. you dont seem to get it. he breaks the rules over and over again and basically is a raging alcoholic at the tables with no regard for his actions. it has nothing to do with nerd/cool guy. in b4 obviously im a nerd.

6/28/2010 2:00:48 PM PST (about 2 days and 19 hours ago) Nguyen Miss-N Out on a Freeroll
Antonio Esfandiari has turned up the charm, and the prop betting, now that the ESPN cameras have arrived at the secondary stage. He gave Scotty Nguyen a $100 freeroll that he couldn't spell Allen Cunningham's last name.

Nguyen managed to mumble "C-U-N-I-N-G," and Esfandiari got a good laugh without having to fork over the cash.

Scotty didn't mind either, since he just picked up a nice pot from Allen. Cunningham raised to 1,800, and Nguyen reraised to 5,800. Cunningham called only to check-fold the [5s2c2d flop. Allen is down to 53,000, and Nguyen may not be able to spell, but he can stack up 84,000 in chips.

Scotty seems to be able to take being made fun of. You've got to give him a little credit for that.

From http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/upda...1558&curpage=2 :

Scotty Nguyen opened for 2,500, Mike Matusow three-bet to 6,600 and Mike Sexton moved all-in for 12,300 from the big blind. Nguyen reraised to 25,500 and Matusow folded.

Sexton AhKd

Nguyen KcKh

"Don't put a queen out there," Mike Matusow pleaded as the flop came down 6d5s4h.

"How about a three and then a seven?" asked Scotty Nguyen.

The dealer complied, burning and turning the 7c.

"ACE!" cried a Sexton supporter from the audience.

"Hey, I'm not greedy man!" laughed Nguyen.

The river was the Qs, spelling Sexton's elimination.

As Sexton shook hands around the table, Nguyen stood up from his chair and reached into the muck, pulling out Matusow's hole cards, revealing them to be pocket jacks.

"Aww, you lie to your friends Mikey?" cackled Nguyen.

A-hole move by Scotty follwed by a stupid remark from the commentator. "It was a bit unorthodox to go through the muck after the hand."

No, it was against the rules. But hey, friendly game right? So it's OK. Or not. But definitely one of the two.

From Dr. Pauly:

Quote:
Duke pretty much ignored Negreanu, and chose to chill out with a ****faced Scotty Ngyuen -- the lesser of two evils in her eyes. And yes, Scotty was three sheets to the wind. One of my sources informed me that Nguyen has been tipping cocktail servers to bring him bottles of O'Douls (non-alcoholic beer) but with all of the non-beer pour out and replaced by Nguyen's beverage of choice -- Michelob. Yep, this is the same Scotty Nguyen who made a mockery of the 50K HORSE the year that he won it, and then vowed to never drink on TV to avoid embarrassing his family further. I dunno who he was fooling, aside from himself.

The thing is, if Scotty didn't rummage through the muck to catch Matusow in a lie, the table would have had to listen to him continue to lie for the next hour about making such a great laydown and if he stayed in he would have hit a queen etc.

Obviously looking through the muck isn't kosher, but it served a purpose regardless. Don't make up some bull**** laydown to draw attention to yourself in front of Scotty. All attention will be on him.

Joking around with fellow pros is one thing. Berating young players, while drunk at a final table is not "funny". Scotty needs someone to step in and do an intervention. He's becoming a joke.

Lying about your hand is part of poker dude. You think breaking an accepted rule is ok, just to call out someone lying about their hand?

Why is the TD consulting with the complainant about the penalty? Obviously Mike was upset enough to bring it to the TD's attention. Grow a pair TD.

I believe he did.
And what he's saying is that you're an idiot for backing Scotty's behavior.

Poker is a game based around deception and lying. I can't name any semi-vocal player who hasn't stretched the truth about a hand they've folded. There is NO EXCUSE for anyone to be digging through the muck like that and it's completely uncalled for.

you could learn to read also.

Show me where i backed scotty's behavior? In fact, I said it was "obviously not kosher".

That includes, "thinking it was ok".

If anything, I just think it is funny in that it likely shut Mike up where he would have probably fake whined for the next hour about the hand.

how did anyone not realize op is not Mike Sexton?

He's trying to hide the fact that it's him by saying he's British in location. Smart plan. Nobody that is well-known in poker is more American than Mike Sexton because mostly now consists of gay cowboys, black dudes, flamed out tennis pros, fat ****ing poker police losers, middle eastern players, craps addicts, balding canadians, awkward social geeks (woteva), nitty asian players, and eggro europeans.

See nobody can name any decent semi-known poker player pro that is more American than Sexton is.

Dirty bastard. Stop bagging on Scotty.
