If not do you think that folding KK pre is correct when opponent has QQ hits a set on the river?

C'mon... I've played with Sam multiple times, and overall-- y'all are right. He is an average player. Truth is , most of us are- just sometimes we're on our game and the cards are comin'.... and we think were better than we are.

BUT- NO ONE plays through a field of 6,865 to place 17th w/out playing damned good in the biggest of big tournaments.

Despite the arm chair quarterbacks picking out a few hands out of hundreds, the ole boy done good and I'm happy for him.

We all get on heaters and Sam is riding his. Disrespecting Sam is NOT good for the game and shows poor sportsmanship.

PS; I'm just a "recreational" player.

. Snake we both have played with Sam and he is good player that has been on a damn good run wsopc main event winner in Tunica, wsopc national champion and 17th in wsop main. But more importantly he is a damn nice guy who would give the shirt off his back to a friend that needed help.

to be fair, Patrick Poirer literally dumped off like 1.3Mill in chips to him on Day 4, which helped his cause.

Sam played a pretty basic ABC game, but for some reason, people kept getting the urge (mainly Patrick) to try n bluff him a lot n he picked em off. For those saying he's a donk for folding KK there etc, Obv I wouldn't do it, but why is he a donk if he felt somethin n went with his gut? I mean, isn't that how people played prior to having HUDs? Or is everyone supposed to play the same way n we're all supposed to follow the same mathematical approach? I don't get it. Guy made the right play and gets called a donk for it. Who cares if its not +EV in the long run, Sam was playing in the moment and felt he was beat and he was. Good for him if he can actually find a fold with Kings n be right. I couldn't so I guess in that sense, he's better than I ever will be.

At that though, he definitely was a nice guy and someone I would def like to have on my table again.

I'd have been willing to give him some credit if not for that hand on Day 5 where he 3bet the flop with 99 on 753r vs Darcourt, got 4bet, and tanked for like 5 minutes and then after he folded claimed he definitely wouldn't have folded aces in that spot. Either that was a sick hollywood or the guy's just clicking buttons, and all other signs point to the latter.

seriously the footage of the wsop circuit final for 1 million is an example of how you can luckbox a tournament.

he sucked out 3 times all in or something I think only on the final table.

seems like a funny dude for an old live nit anyway.

Well said-

The "old nit" (Playing a pretty basic ABC game)found someone on Day 4 that was willing to dump off their chips to him and he "luckboxed" a huge laydown at the right time which makes him a "donk".

Go figure the logic- except you hit it right on the head..."is everyone supposed to play the same way"... I heard an announcer call Sam's play "unconventional" LMAO- whatever works!

My point in my earlier post was that it would be pretty hard to get to Day 4 with-out playing good, we have all survived making a bad bluff or bad call or a bad push with a suck-out.

Bottom line- Sam played good, Sam got lucky, Sam cashed...as a matter of fact, Sam cashed big in 3 big tournaments as pointed out by Tex.

+1 to nice guy, glad he is having success but he's obviously not a world class tournament player.

I was more impressed by his academic background though, as a foreigner listening to someone from Arkansas, it is reeeeeeaaaalllly hard to give them credit for being learned (obv a huge generalisation but the accent screams unintelligent)

2p2 would rather nine Pius Heinz -alikes who play good but never utter a word or change their facial expression. mmmmmmthat's good TV.

Obviously he's not the best player in the world, but he makes good TV and is seemingly fun to be around. Same goes for Dennis Philips. I spent the weekend playing the Andy Black and Padraig Parkinson at my table and have rarely had as much fun in my time in poker. Give me that any day of 9 silent scandis.

lol @ ppl berating this guy for his play or folding KK. He is a good player, he doesn't come of cocky or as he thinks he is the best, he just plays the game as he knows how.
