so as many mentioned the male brains may be a bit better suited for the technical and logical aspects of poker. i don't know if that's really true, but let's just assume it is.

then there's still the emotional side; women don't have (as much) testosterone. due to that they might be a little less competitive and can control themselves better than men.

Men are naturally more aggressive than women. Men commit the majority of violent crimes. Men start the wars, men do the killing.

HOWEVER, the "aggression" in poker is metaphorical. There is zero literal aggression in poker. Nobody's getting tackled or body checked. It literally involves clicking a button or picking up some chips.
I would guess that most of the successful female players who have been playing for awhile and who know the game, are just as "aggressive" as men at the same level.

And just because it bears repeating - most women who play just learned the game. Annette_15 has probably been playing longer than your average female player. I've been playing for two years. (not counting my play money days)

lol @ the "not many girls play poker" argument. not many girls play poker because the are geneticly inferior at it.

Are you implying that men are not inherently better at being doctors because medical schools are full of women?

Today, medical schools are full of women. Tomorrow, we will die of misdiagnosed illnesses and failed surgeries.

I just thought about it and think its that girls generally have a lot more **** to worry about. A lot of guys can just devote their life to a sport or chess or poker and that's why they get really good - girls are generally not that free on time, and not that willing to be a "loser" in other aspects of life I think.

Another point not raised here is that small average differences tend to get magnified at the extremes, purely as a function of the statistical distribution. It's possible for an average woman to be almost as good as an average man at something, and yet still have top 100 in the field be dominated overwhelmingly by men.

Nice post. Women are also encouraged to play sports a lot less or to be competitive generally.

It is possible that women are worse at poker than men - but for now, because, as has been pointed out, there are probably at least 100 men for every woman who plays, no one but an idiot (and there are plenty ITT) would put the very small amount of female superstars down to anything but the numbers.
