Just want to know your opinion on this... here is the situation...

About 2 months ago playing a 550 HU SNG... my internet craps out - it was close to the beginning with and i had a slight chip lead. By the time i get back up and running the tournament is over and i had blinded out. Sure, my fault for not having an reliable connection. So i find the player (a well know baller) and ask him if he would like to give my buy in back - he says know but if i play him anothe HU match for 550 if i beat him then he will ship my buy in back.

Well, me being a full roller - had no cash at the time so we left it at that...

Fast forward to yesterday - i built a little roll and saw the player sitting in a 550. It was more than half my roll but seeing as how i was getting 2 -1 how could i resist... So i sat... Before we started i reminded him about the deal he had offered - then one of his buddies came on and said he lost his chat.

I won and told him to ship the 550 - nothing... i see him playing on all the time and have mentioned it to him in chat twice but do not want to keep doing this... what do you guys think?

Thanks
Mike

That you have horrible bankroll management and he is under no obligation to 'reimburse' you for a disconnection. It is an inherent risk with internet play.

Just be glad you won and go and play $20-30 HU instead. That is what you are bankrolled for.

Lessons learned:

[x] Don't expect people to honor sketchy pity deals from 2 months ago.
[x] Get a better internet connection.
[x] Just because a word sounds the same doesn't mean it can be used interchangeably.
[ ] You have adequate bankroll management skills.

There's a good chance that his deal was going to end up with losing 1100 instead of just 550. You're even, don't push your luck.

great br management

so you put your whole roll in a 500 sag and because you are stealing internet from your neighbor you lost that connection, therefore blinding out
you then ask the other player if he will send your cash back, he says no but if you play again and win, he will
you dont have any money left in your account and therefore cant play

op you are not the sharpest tool in the shed are you?

What makes you think that you deserve the buy in back when you had a slight chip lead in a HU match?

What makes you think that you deserve anything at all if you are a "full roller" as in playing with 1 BR in your account?

But please continue with poker, you are a very valuable asset to the community ;-)

Why didn't you just ask him to stake you, he seems like a geniune / nice guy, that shouldn't have been a problem!

If he said he would give it back under certain conditions I would expect him to honor that. Of course there is a chance you're not telling the whole story, but if what you say is correct, then yes you should absolutelyl expect 550 dollars.

Since two months went by, you should have definitely verified he was still willing to do the deal. The statute of limitations on the 2 month ago promise may have run out homie.

You shouldn't expect anything. You waited 2 months and you never got confirmation from him that the deal was still on. Be happy that you won the second time and didn't have to rebuild your bankroll yet again.
