If somebody kept taking 10 minutes and purposefully stalling.....I could easily see myself starting to call clock evey time it was that players' action. Would probably be pretty funny too.

This occured at the table beside mine in the WSOP last year. The floor eventually stood there and put the clock on the guy for 1 minute immediately when it was his action. Finally, the floor threatened to put him on a 10 second clock every hand, to which he responded "Let me know when you do that." I don't think they ever actually did it. Lee Watkinson was on this table and was utterly livid with the guy. "Pretty funny" isn't the word I would have used to describe the situation

Wow...seriously? I never thought it would actually be necessary. I could so see me doing it though aginst some players.

But wow,....... there are actually some people out there who are *******s enough that this is possible?

Whatever.....**** them all....I don't think I've ever taken more than 15 seconds to make a pre-flop decision EVER.......and I don't think I've EVER taken more than 150 seconds EVER to make any decision EVER............I really can't excuse anyone's actions.........they are all being *******s....and further than that they are being dumb and trying to sneak into the money instead of capitalizing on everybody's thoughts (of wanting to money) and pushing it very hard at this point of the tourney.

Ive had the clock called on me once, and called the clock on myself twice (lol). I just dont get why the TD didnt penalise these stalling donks more, it sucks so hard, fair enough on a big pot with a big decision taking your time is one thing that seperates live from online, but jeez to repeatedly do it when you dont have a decision to make. Its tough enough on the internet with 30 seconds to act, but live this must be torture to sit through round after round.

Also, that decision to put Sorel on the clock is beyond ridic if its even close to how he described it in the blog - with most the table, including the guy who raised, saying it shouldnt be applied.

Reminds me of a story from a couple years back. Negreanu was playing some deep stack event and it got to near the bubble. One guy on his table decided to max out and stall every single decision, so the TD decided to put the entire event on hand for hand. Despite doing this (and ruining the structure of a deep slow event) the guy continued to stall so not only was there no advantage to it he was now pissing off the entire room. Yet still he stalled and still the guy didnt get the boot.

TDs suck i guess is the theme of my post.

It's the fault as well of the rest of the players at the table, even those not in the hand. I normally give a player 5 min max, before I call the clock on them in a live even (half that if the blinds are 20 min or under). This is because that player is causing me chips because the clock is ticking against everyone at the table.

People do this online even when a tournament is hand-for-hand and about to bubble. I can understand if it's a big decision, but anything other than your tournament life shouldn't take more than 5 minutes regardless of how long a blind level is.

I'm really glad there's been so much discussion about this. I think I'm really going to start posting here more often...... The situation went down exactly how I described it in my blog... Does anyone know if I have any legal recourse? Or any recourse at all?

As I was arguing with the floor person he said that the clock was counting down... I panicked and made a call I probably wouldn't have made if I had time to think it through...

the full details are on my blog:

You could file a complaint with the Nevada Gaming Commission, however, there is a rule that states that the TD's rulings are the final decision, and the TD who ruled against you made his final decision.

This just in, Evdakov still likes to stall. From PokerNews at the $10,000 PLO event:

So That's How He Does It

All of the players on Orange #21, in addition to players on some other tables, have complained to the floor staff that Nikolay Evdakov is playing too slowly. A floor supervisor just approached Evdakov and asked him to speed up his play. Evdakov agreed but seems to be continuing his stall tactics. A large group of players is now gathered around the table. It was determined that Evdakov would instantly have a clock called on him every hand.

Turns out, it doesn't matter. He just busted. The hand will be posted shortly.

Much to the Players' Delight...

From the hijack seat, Brandon Moran came in with a raise to 20,000. Continuing in his ways, Nikolay Evdakov went deep into the tank from the cutoff seat. An interpreter was called over to help Evdakov understand the situation, as players from the three other tables gathered around, most of them complaining amongst themselves. After a delay of more than five minutes, the floor staff was finally explaining to the interpreter what to tell the player.

"If he doesn't play faster, he's going to be penalized," said the staff person. Apparently "penalized" is the word Evdakov was looking for. Without waiting for the translation, he grabbed his remaining 52,000 in chips with two fists and dropped them into the pot. Moran called when the action came back to him, and the cards were turned up:

Moran: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades} {9-Spades}
Evdakov: {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

With Evdakov ahead, but at risk of elimination, the board was dealt out: {4-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Moran caught his set on the flop, and it held up to eliminate Nikolay Evdakov.

With his record-setting tenth cash this year, Evdakov's achievement is truly noteworthy. Despite this, it seems that all 27 remaining players were glad to see him depart, as the pace returns to a more comfortable clip.

With that last bust-out, we have 27 players left, and the table and seat assignments have been redrawn.
