Public service announcement: possible attempt by scammers to get FTP login information Public service announcement: possible attempt by scammers to get FTP login information

Another poster (ty, Zuran) alerted me to a possible scam. He received an email linking to this "site" because he had a "new private message". Obviously the navigation menu doesnt work, all you can do is provide your username and password. And for the people that dont use FTP forums and dont know, the login is the same as the client's login.

Also, notice that one link in that site does work, it's the "Online Poker Forum Home" on the top left, in red. It directs to the legit FTP Forums so some people might think it validates that phishing site.

If anyone else gets a similar email, feel free to post in this thread. Please remember to keep your username and password to all of your poker sites protected.

For what possible purpose? I already logged in earlier today, and didn't think anything of it. Then when I logged into my FTP account later this afternoon, my entire bankroll was gone! I was all like, 'huh? What?'

Don't worry NVGtard I'm sure your $350 "bankroll" is perfectly safe.

Not yet Dan, you'll probably see 100 tweets when they start accepting petitions and I'll send you a PM just in case.

Lamest phishing site ever. It's 2011 and people can't use the resources available to them to make a convincing phisher.

I am disappoint.

If you're stupid enough to enter that info it's your own damned fault.

For the purpose of having all that information and trying to drain user accounts when the upcoming run on FTP occurs? I mean if you give them your login information, they can look up everything about the account (name, address, ect) when FTP goes back online, yes?

Not yet. Deal still has to clear FTP board approval. Then all the actual transactions, I would think. Then hopefully the DOJ announces how US players can petition for their funds, and hopefully Tapie announces when FTP will reopen and if there will be any limitations on ROW withdrawals or what.

Disagree. Victims of predators, no matter how imprudent they are with online info, do not deserve to be preyed upon.
