I don't think you guys realize that if smart, winning players move to DFS, this is a good thing for pokerstars.

Not to mention, DFS industry will not succeed without major success lobbying.

What will also be interesting is if this turns out to actually be GOOD for poker in the long run. Obviously a lot of regs/people are hurting right now as their income is under fire, but you pros have been grinding the games down and making them unattractive to recreational players for a long time now. Your occupation was never suppose to be stable so you shouldn't be all that surprised, and you should have a plan. You do have a plan.... right?

I'm assuming he means because the recreational player to professional ratio is going to be more favorable than now. What he doesn't realize is the recreational players are going to be accustomed to playing these spin n flip rakefests and not actual poker.

THE WHOLE POINT OF POKER IS THAT IT IS A SKILL GAME, ie some people will win and some will lose. Winning players doesnt kill the game winning player is part of the game as are losing players. The whole point of poker is to try and win???

IF the rake reaches a point where no one can win and best you can do is lose at 2% because of rake, and the same site offers a video poker that has a house edge of 1% does it still mean that the video poker game is a casino game and the peer to peer poker game is still a game of skill?

even though you will have a higher ev playing a casino game lol.


also a lot of people seem to think any news where regs are losing money its good for recreational players. If chnages mean regs win less money then the changes mean recreational players will lose money even more!!

I have come to this conclusion after reading your statements regarding rake increase and exchange fee's.

When i met you back in the days you were a young lovely girl , playfull and exciting.

They know there will be grumbling for a while but they also know they can probably get away it, would be v. happy with a mass exodus though if it happened.

When players gets too skilled, they grind down the recs Enjoyment cos they cant limp their 75o UTG and see flops without have someone raising and pounding on them relentlessly. So what happens? They stop playing.

Amaya has seen this and are essentially declaring war on the pros, who they think are having too much of a negative affect on the poker ecosystem. They take out to much money, they masstable and make games boring for recs, they dont chat etc etc

Amayas solution. Make it harder to be a pro/ Improve the rec to pro ratio. Get recs back. Ensure their huge investment isnt lost when online poker becomes a massive shark fest, and even the sharks start to die out

The problem is they are the Coca Cola of online gaming companies. As I said to them in an email, they aren't just reformulating their product, they're adding arsenic.

They're on the short path to total brand destruction imo. Their most loyal, high volume customers are the ones who will be most quickly alienated, flying out the door and into the competition's arms.

If this isn't a terrible business move period I would need to see mountains of data to convince me its not.

I didn't say it WILL be good long term, i said it might be. I could be wrong. But with millions of dollars at stake i will assume amayas brain trust have done a lot of work on this decision and think its for the best for poker long term ie their investment.

Many of the posts ITT are hysterically crying that this is the end of online poker, but really they are just complaining at how hard amaya is making for them to keep playing professionally. Absolutely not the same thing as the changes being bad for "poker"

You would think so, but after reading these reviews from employees, it seems that perhaps not. The management are far more interested in their stock price than petty day to day matters. One quote I noticed was "do not seem to care why there is an exodus of staff.". If they don't even care about their own staff they probably won't care about players leaving either. They are probably intending to sell before the results from their current trading come in. They are still riding Isai's wave at the moment.

Being a pro is just a by-product of being better at the game of poker than other players and playing high enough.

all the things you said a pro does is just an action you can take in the game of poker.

the only difference between a losing player and a winning player is that the winning players are better at the game we all like to play.
