They don't have preflop rake on PokerStars.fr

Rake is 6.67% but as long as french government is taxing every pot we can't really expect them not to have a rake slightly higher than standard. I'm too lazy to read back this thread, but if I remember correctly the "government rake" was 2% so PS is actually taking less money themself on .fr than on .com

Imho if these greedy governments HAVE to get involved, they should be taxing the net profits of the greedy poker sites ONLY, while also forcing the sites 2 keep the overall rake they charge players to a minimum (if they must interfere at all)

These sites make millions annually because of the players, why cant they just make a few million less and contribute to the host countrys society?

The only argument I see for any online poker player to pay any tax, is when poker profit is their sole source of income

Funny how nobody in the thread realizes pokerstars and pokerstars.fr are two completely distinct entities.

I am sure they do contribute to the Isle of Man's wealth, and Malta regarding Pokerstars.fr which is incorporated there. You do realize there is something called the EU and governments can't restrict at will the ability of other EU members' companies to conduct business on their soil and tax their profits (illegal under tax treaties to make it short, their profits are taxed where they are incorporated).

This is so true. The people who make laws think they know whats best for you. If you arent smart enough to agree with them they will do what they can to "guide" you in the right direction. They do this through enacting laws and taxes.
