This was my favorite part, putting on some huge act against the live one who is never, ever folding regardless of what you do or say.

Also, if Negreanu did that to anyone but Hellmuth or maybe Matusow I'd think he was out of line.

Awesome hand is awesome.

IDK I'm not reading all this stuff.

It seemed like a douche-off to me, with Doyle (as is so often the case) being the only one to show a little class.

I hope the entire show doesn't have this type of nonsense going on.

Hellmuth telling anyone to 'have some class' is the height of hilarity.

Daniel Negreanu gets beat up every time I see him on HSP.

PTR has him as a solid loser on Stars.

Somehow still manages to come across as a know it all: calling out people's hands repeatedly (I know that's your hand, just want to pay you off anyway...), criticizing Helmuth, Matusow.

So goood. At first I thought it was going to be a straight suckout, but winning 3 out of 4 is so sick and even more dramatic!

Like 85% off all people who are hating on PH on this clip are posters from 2009-2010 and are nvg and bbvtards, most people are just not mature enough to understand that PH wasn't a douche in this one.

A good poker player always stays calm while playing, thinking about how to get the money in. PH was just being sure he would get the money in for sure.
DN, Laak and Tony G couldn't have acted worse in this clip.

As I browsed through this thread I noticed that most reputative posters agree with me on this.

Haters on PH for this clip should just put themselves in his shoes

I don't agree with insulting other players, but if his body is affected by losing, than that's his own business.
I'll preface this by saying I know very little about basketball and that 2+2, the home of crap analogies, has found another worthy resident in the form of your post. However: tournament poker is a high variance way to make a living. Beats come thick and fast. There are several WPT events a year, and Phil will have other chances to go deep in them. Phil, as a long-time professional poker player, should be aware of all of this, and should be less highly-strung as a result.

I would imagine that the NBA finals occur annually. Basketball players have shorter careers than poker players. Therefore, they have a lot more emotionally invested into any event.

You don't think all poker players care? Fortunately, most of them are man enough to deal with situations better than this.

Big deal, he laid down on the floor. How does that even compare with other people high-fiving you losing $50,000 on a hand you should have won $100k?

& while the fish is totally freerolling, (& prob Daniel, too), I sincerely doubt Helmuth is.
Ante - I wasn't arguing that Daniel isn't an idiot. He is. However, it doesn't make Hellmuth's lifetime of acting like a complete asshat in any way acceptable. When was it that he started berating Roothlus and the dealer in the 88 vs QT hand? 2008?

The guy is an immature douchebag. The sooner Hellmuth lunchbox owners admit it, the easier it will be for everyone.

Phil Hellmuth has been "trying to change his image" since at least 2005. I watched the 2005 WSOP recently, and there was an interview with him where he stated he was "trying to change his image" and not berate people at the tables.

Forgive me if it'll take a bit more than a feng shui coach to convince me he's actually done so.

I agree that Hellmuth wasn't the douche in this clip. And yet I still enjoyed seeing it happen to him. It just seems like the universe is balancing is karmic range is all.

ugh hand is so good and so bad at the same time, maybe they thought having a fish, an old vet, and four clowns play some awful poker would make for good tv, actually it probably does but it is sorta unpleasant having to listen to negreanu and to a lesser extent laak whine as they reel from the horror unfolding, fortunately their petty complaints turn into childish taunting and celebration as the cards take a cruel you might even say self inflicted twist for hellmuth, sparing the loose cannon from the rail and then some to the relief of all (i mean that in a very broad sense) other than hellmuth
