I have seen the videoblog, and I think you will agree once you see it that he is sincere about his own degeneracy and that he did not set out to screw anyone. He has been a good friend of mine for a lot of years now, has never shafted me and has always been generous to a fault. Online poker and alcohol are admittedly his weaknesses.

I hope Brad gets his life set straight again (he was doing really well recently) and that he and Doug can come to a payment plan that suits them both.
typical excuse.. i'll stop pming all your friends when you pay doug his money.. doesn't matter why or not he set out to screw someone.. HE DID

what he didn't realize is that WCGRider is a very long time member of the Poker community who has earned the respect of a lot of people who will go to bat for him. Easiest way to make the pain stop is to pay theat man his manies!

Where did he get the money for the video camera? If all I had was $100 at the moment to give towards my balance, you best believe im sending it.

As long as the online sites keep allowing money transfers, the idiots will keep sending money to people whom they have never met or recently met.

OP...you just learned the same lesson that thousands of players have learned in the past, and unfortunately thousands will learn in the future.

Who cares how sincere he is? I'd be sincerely sorry if I got drunk and lost 30k that wasn't mine too. But i'm not that ******ed. Absolute scum. It was a swap, not a loan.

LOL OMG.. Look at this ****.. he changed the wikipedia post.

In 2012, Brad Booth engaged in a cash for online swap with poker pro Doug Polk that followed a first, successful transaction. He apparently had the funds when the transaction took place but was unable to pay when the two parties met in person. Arrangements were made, but poor communication led to challenges when Booth returned to Canada where he has a different phone SIM/Number. He returned to Las Vegas and is in contact with the other party, though many consider his actions unethical.

i quickly replaced it.

if doug comes in here and confirms this i'll drop it.

Part of this is the Gambler's Fallacy. They get behind and double up thinking they are "due" to win. The fame from the Internet and the poker boom is ideal for scammers. Makes them a celebrity. How many can you think of: Lindgren, Booth, even poor Dutch. I see some props on facebook for stake money. I see a Professor, a writer, and a really bad poker player looking for stake money. Around casinos, there is always a gal locked out of her room and Mama is sending money. There are weirdos with checks they need cashed. There is a broke needing a stake every five yards. You waltz into a gambling joint, gigglin' and grinin', sure of a cinch winning.

Everyone is trying to get your money, and you are trying to get theirs. It is not a place for charity, gullibility, suckerism, soft hearts, and most importantly of all, casinos are pure hell on folks who lie to themselves. If you do not have a precise read on your self, stay out of gambling joints. Sunday school and Cub Scouts needs a few good leaders.
Although I think you mean well, I have to take issue with this. I have seen lots of acts of charity in a casino. A friend of mine once bought a degen a full set of clothes because he was spending ALL his money on poker and had no money for food or clothes...he was homeless, did yardwork for a buy-in and lost it all every day in the poker room. Lots of us have bought him food when it was apparent he wasn't eating. I've given, not loaned, money for a buy-in to people who were down and out and who I knew were not good for a loan. I've been completely broke and had meals and hotel rooms bought for me and I've done the same. There are lots of people with mental problems and gambling addictions in casinos and I take no pleasure in taking their money and it doesn't hurt to show a little kindness. I travel a lot and I've met kind-hearted people in poker rooms all over the world. As a matter of fact I think poker players are more charitable than other people. When I've needed money and asked for a loan I've had friends or family ask me "What do you need it for?"; poker players never ask that, they just say yes and fork over the money.
Johnny, you seem to be trying to paint a picture of the wise old rounder but you're trying too hard. For all I know you've never played a hand of poker. Maybe you were the shoe-shine boy outside Binions?

If you're a creditor who'd rather have YB give you his last monies as partial payment and stop gambling, then you truly are an idiot deserving of ridicule.

And that's why people berating others who post about being scammed is ******ed.. I'm sure there are some who don't like to post threads like this because of all the hostile comments they may get.. (obv not saying it's solved at all but.. provoked a reaction + saved other potential victims)..

That was a sincere video and I feel for him....that being said if you are a grown man and you owe people that much money and you actually want to do something to change it's time to get off your ass and get a real job with guaranteed money. What happens if he strikes out at the World Series and makes no money? Sounds more like a serious addiction to me....tryin to dig yourself out of the hole by doing what originally put you in the hole seems somewhat counter productive. I hope he does well for everyone else's sake...if not I think it's time he seeks professional help.

Loaning money in the poker community is sort of like drinking and driving.

It doesn't matter how many cautionary tales out there, people still insist on making the same mistake over and over and over again.

I can't think of anything more idiotic than loaning a gambling addict money to gamble with. Especially a gambling addict that already has creditors up to 7 figures. Anyone who knowingly lends BB money after he has made this public deserves what they get, any other creditors should cut their losses and take this as a lesson learned. There is basically no realistic chance he will be able to raise 7 figures to pay off his debts.
I have personal experience with addiction - not to gambling - and attend various sessions (cbt and self help groups) 2 or three times a week, am doing very well, and want to make it clear I am not judging BB harshly at all, but know that a gambling addict will always **** up until they stop gambling.
The video is just a gambling addict doing what a gambling addict does, nothing more or less.
